In 2014, Ms. Nguyen Thi Duyen in Lam Son ward ( Hung Yen city) started raising 200 laying ducks and achieved good results, motivating her to expand her barn, maintain raising over 2,000 laying ducks and invest in 2 incubators to produce breeding ducks as present. On average, she sells nearly 5,000 ducklings per batch. From the model of raising laying ducks and hatching ducklings, her family earns over 250 million VND in profit each year.
According to Ms. Duyen, in order for ducks to lay eggs regularly, with good egg quality and high productivity, in addition to disease prevention, vaccination, regular disinfection and sterilization of barns, it is necessary to focus on monitoring and understanding the reproductive habits of ducks to have appropriate care techniques, barn and nest design. During the breeding process, regularly check and monitor the health of the flock of ducks. If any duck shows signs such as: ruffled feathers, pale, not eating... then lock it up separately to monitor and find a way to handle it, add vitamins and minerals 3 times/week to the duck's food ration...
During the breeding process, she always focuses on selecting good breeds and choosing high-quality feed and having a reasonable diet for each breed of duck. To increase the resistance of the ducks, she regularly feeds the ducks with calcium supplements, trace minerals and strictly controls the water source and food provided to the poultry to ensure hygiene.
With the achievements in the process of economic development, Ms. Duyen is always ready to share and help local households with experience and duck breeds to develop livestock farming. In the future, she will continue to learn experience and techniques, expand the scale of livestock farming, and promote family economic development.
