Developing the food processing industry in a sustainable direction

Thanks to the synchronous and effective implementation of agricultural and rural support policies, Vinh Phuc has gradually formed large-scale concentrated livestock farming areas, creating a solid foundation for the development of the food processing industry.

In the past 5 years, the province's food processing industry has recorded an average growth rate of 14% per year. The number of enterprises and workers operating in this field has also tended to increase quite rapidly. Currently, the province has 78 enterprises and food processing cooperatives, creating jobs for nearly 5,000 workers. Some key products that are contributing significantly to the value of the province's food and beverage processing industry include tea, vegetable oil, milk and rice milk powder. In addition, there are traditional handicraft products such as wine, sausages, yogurt, milk cakes, etc.

Vinabeef Tam Dao beef farm and processing factory complex is built in Minh Quang commune, Tam Dao district and Trung My commune, Binh Xuyen district.

Typical among the food processing projects in Vinh Phuc is the Vinabeef Tam Dao beef farm and processing factory complex invested by Vietnam Livestock Corporation Vilico - Vinamilk Group and Japan's Sojitz Group with a total investment of 500 million USD.

According to statistics, Lap Thach, Tam Duong, Vinh Tuong and Song Lo districts currently have a total beef herd of over 65,000 heads, accounting for 72.6% of the province's total herd, providing more than 3,700 tons of fresh meat for sale each year, equivalent to 63% of the province's beef output. In terms of dairy herd size, Vinh Phuc currently ranks 6th in the country.

In particular, Vinh Tuong is a key area, accounting for over 90% of the province's total dairy herd with 185 farms and 1,750 households, with a total herd of over 15,600 cows. Fresh milk products here have been linked to large enterprises such as Vinamilk and the Dutch Dairy Company, ensuring stable output and creating an abundant source of raw materials for the dairy and food processing industry.

This is also an abundant source of raw materials for the development of the food processing industry in the province, thereby increasing the value of goods, solving the problem of "good harvest, low price" in agricultural production, and at the same time promoting the process of building new rural areas in many localities.
