Developing agricultural commodities associated with product processing and consumption

(BLC) – After 2.5 years of implementing Resolution No. 02 NQ-HU dated August 24, 2020 of the Party Executive Committee of Tam Duong district on the development of concentrated commodity agriculture associated with processing and consumption of products in the period of 2021 - 2025; up to now, in Tam Duong district, specialized and concentrated production areas have been formed, with medium and small scale according to the chain in communes and towns. Thereby, increasing the value per unit area and income for people.

With the goal of effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the district, focusing on developing concentrated, efficient and sustainable agricultural products with high productivity, quality, added value and competitiveness. Resolution No. 02 has set out specific targets: maintaining and improving the efficiency of 600 hectares of commercial rice, associated with processing and consumption of products; planting 400 hectares of high-quality tea, increasing the total area to over 2,200 hectares, maintaining and promoting the effectiveness of the "Tam Duong Tea" brand; expanding and maintaining the stable area of ​​​​120-150 hectares of cassava; building the Binh Lu cassava vermicelli brand; planting 800 hectares of macadamia (including 500-600 hectares of intercropped tea trees), increasing the total area to over 1,200 hectares; continuing to develop links between enterprises, cooperatives and people to expand the area of ​​​​fruit trees to 100 hectares...

To achieve these goals, right from the beginning of the term, Tam Duong district has synchronously deployed many solutions, promoting the role of Party committees, authorities at all levels, and specialized agencies in issuing documents; propagating, mobilizing and guiding people to implement the resolution. Along with that, the district organizes production area planning based on land and climate potential suitable for each crop and livestock.

Implementing well investment support policies, mobilizing investment capital sources to open new and upgrade intra-field roads, solidifying irrigation canals, creating conditions for investors, people and enterprises to produce concentrated goods in a multi-purpose direction to proactively irrigate crops. Thereby, creating consensus within the entire Party to help realize programs on agricultural development associated with product processing and consumption.

Up to now, the district has maintained and improved the efficiency of 600 hectares of commercial rice, reaching 100% compared to the resolution; the output is 3,240 tons, in Then Sin, Binh Lu communes, Tam Duong town... the main varieties are Seng cu, DS1, Huong thom number 1. Focusing on protecting, caring for, and intensively cultivating existing tea trees, from 2021 to now, the district has newly planted 224.3/400 hectares of concentrated tea, increasing the total tea area to 2,060.4/2,236 hectares, reaching 92.1% of the resolution. Strengthening safe tea cultivation, applying production processes according to GAP, encouraging production according to organic standards.

Mobilizing people to expand the area of ​​macadamia trees, up to now the whole district has 943.3 hectares of macadamia, the business area is 341.2 hectares, the harvest output is 1,033 tons/year. Particularly for arrowroot trees, 200/150 hectares have been implemented, reaching 133.3% compared to the resolution; successfully building the brand "Binh Lu arrowroot vermicelli".

Putting Resolution No. 02 into practice, Son Binh commune focuses on restructuring agriculture towards increasing product value. In particular, promoting linkage models and commodity production models such as: temperate fruit tree area of ​​over 19 hectares, income of over 170 million VND/ha; more than 30 hectares of galangal, income of 100 million VND/ha; developing 100 bee colonies, value of 150 million VND per year and 17,600m3 of cold water fish farming, value of over 23 billion VND. Through linkage models, people can improve their capacity, overcome disadvantages in scale, area and bring economic value; overcome the situation of "good harvest, low price" contributing to promoting economic development and helping people feel secure in investing and participating in production linkage.

As one of the leading households in converting crop structure when being promoted and mobilized by local authorities, Mr. Chang A Thao's family, in Chu Va 12 village, Son Binh commune, boldly converted the ineffective rice area to grow passion fruit with a scale of 7,000m2. With a scientific production process, from seed selection to care and harvesting, the family's passion fruit area has developed well with high productivity, deducting expenses, earning over 100 million VND per year.

After 2.5 years of implementing Resolution 02, it has contributed to changing people's production thinking, shifting from small-scale production to concentrated commodity production, associated with linkage and product consumption. Increasing the value and income for farmers. Up to now, Tam Duong district has gradually formed concentrated, large-scale production areas such as a 600ha commodity rice area, with an income of 65-70 million VND/ha, a fruit tree area of ​​over 330ha, with an income of over 170 million VND/ha; a macadamia area of ​​over 943ha, with an income of 150 million VND/ha.

In addition, the development of livestock farming towards commodities has made positive progress. In the period of 2021-2023, 5 new concentrated buffalo, cow and horse farms were built, bringing the total number of concentrated livestock farms to 11, with a scale of over 15 heads/facility; 2 new pig farms with a scale of over 100 heads/facility were developed; 1 new pig farm with a scale of over 50 heads/facility was developed. From 2021 to present, 5 new agricultural cooperatives have been established, operating in accordance with the Law on Cooperatives. Attention has been paid to directing and attracting organizations and individuals to survey investment in the agricultural sector. The whole district has 13 companies and centers making investments.

Along with that, Tam Duong district focuses on building brands, gradually forming brands for agricultural products. Supporting and guiding subjects to build dossiers, complete products and successfully build 1 brand "Binh Lu vermicelli" and 3 products with brands "Tam Duong plum - Lai Chau specialty", "Tam Duong pear - Lai Chau specialty", "Tam Duong peach - Lai Chau specialty" which have been accepted as valid applications by the Intellectual Property Office. Strengthening trade promotion, supporting enterprises, cooperatives, and agricultural product production and trading establishments to promote, introduce, and connect to consume products and goods.

Continuing to effectively implement Resolution 02, in the coming time, Tam Duong district will review the support contents to promptly adjust and supplement them to encourage production development and shift the agricultural structure towards commodities. Aiming to create a breakthrough to promote the sustainable development of the district's agriculture, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 20th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025.
