Mr. Vi Van Nhien's family in Na Bo village has been trying to expand the aquaculture area for many years instead of corn and rice production. In 2010, his family converted the rice field area to dig a pond with a water surface area of about 2,000m2 for raising fish. Realizing that aquaculture is highly economically efficient and fish have few diseases, he boldly converted 5,000m2 of mixed gardens and ineffective rice fields to dig ponds to raise grass carp, bighead carp, and monosex tilapia. Thanks to proper care according to technical processes, the fish grow quickly, have few diseases, and after deducting expenses, the income is from 100 - 120 million VND/year.
In 2019, Mr. Tran Van Din in Giang village boldly borrowed 10 million VND from preferential capital from the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of Tam Duong district to invest in fish farming. At that time, he converted 2,000m2 of one-crop corn and rice fields to aquaculture, mainly fish: grass carp, bighead carp, bighead carp, common carp and monosex tilapia. In addition to investing in fish breeds, he also learned about fish farming experience through training courses, books, newspapers and television. Every year, he releases 100 kg of fish breeds of various types. At the end of the year, he harvested more than 10 tons of fish and sold them to the market, earning a profit of over 40 million VND.
