Developing traditional medicine in a specialized direction

NDO - On November 21, the 2nd National Fair of Medicinal Herbs, Pharmaceuticals and Medicinal Products in 2024 - VIETRAMED EXPO 2024 officially opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

The 2nd Fair of Medicinal Herbs, Traditional Medicine and Medicinal Products is an important trade promotion activity, supporting localities, enterprises in cultivating, exploiting, processing, trading medicinal herbs, establishments producing traditional medicines and medicinal products; hospitals, Oriental Medicine Association, and Nam Medicine Association to introduce and promote traditional medicine products and services; connecting trade, encouraging enterprises to invest in developing production, developing value chains of high-quality medicinal products.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen said that this important activity will contribute to forming a value chain linking medicinal herb farmers, businesses and consumers; at the same time, introducing medicinal herbs and medicinal products that are endemic and specific to Vietnam to the international community.

The development of medicinal herbs, herbal medicines, traditional medicines and products from domestic medicinal herbs is receiving much attention from the Party, the National Assembly and the Government. Many preferential policies for investment in the development of medicinal herbs have been issued and applied to promote units to cultivate, produce and process medicinal herbs in an industrial and specialized direction.

Mr. Nguyen The Thinh, Director of the Department of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Management, shared: The fair will become an effective bridge for participating units, while creating favorable opportunities for enterprises, production, trading and distribution units to find partners, cooperate in investment, distribute products and technology to enhance trade promotion, develop the market of medicinal herbs, traditional medicine and medicinal products in particular as well as the market of medicine and healthcare in Vietnam in general.

Doctor CKII Do Tan Khoa, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital, said that the traditional medicine sector of Ho Chi Minh City as well as the whole country has made great strides in improving medical examination and treatment capacity, service quality and patient satisfaction.

In Ho Chi Minh City, developing traditional medicine in an in-depth direction is the right direction, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City a specialized healthcare center of the ASEAN region, serving medical tourism and meeting the increasing needs of the people.

The second National Fair of Medicinal Materials, Traditional Medicine and Medicinal Products - VIETRAMED EXPO 2024 is held from November 21-23 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).

The fair gathered 425 booths, more than 300 units; Vietnamese enterprises, international enterprises trading in medicinal herbs, traditional medicine, medicinal herb cultivation facilities, health care equipment, smart medicine, traditional medicine hospitals, domestic and international Oriental Medicine Associations, enterprises, products from countries and territories such as: India, Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan...

In addition, the fair also offers free consultation and examination using traditional medicine for visitors.
