At Phu Yen General Hospital, patients do not need to present their health insurance card when completing medical examination and treatment procedures. During the imaging diagnosis process, patients do not need to carry X-ray or ultrasound records, etc. All information is transmitted to each department and stored using QR codes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh (Tuy Hoa ward) went to Phu Yen General Hospital for a check-up and shared: “Not having to carry documents helps patients and their families not worry about documents being forgotten or lost during the process of moving and getting examined. Patient information saved on the system also helps me to re-examine and get medicine dispensed faster.”

Dr. Bui Anh Hoa, Deputy Director of Phu Yen General Hospital, said: “Every day, Phu Yen General Hospital examines and treats nearly 1,000 inpatients, not to mention thousands of outpatients. The amount of information is large, so digital transformation helps save time for both the hospital and the patient. Storing data with QR codes also helps upper-level hospitals understand the medical history and medications used, thereby treating patients more effectively.”
Not only Phu Yen General Hospital, digital transformation is also applied by many other hospitals in the province, bringing convenience to patients. Mr. Pham Thanh Phong (Binh Kien ward) came to Phu Yen Eye Hospital for a check-up and shared: “My eyes cannot see clearly, so every time I go to the hospital, my children and grandchildren have to go with me to hold the necessary documents and complete the procedures. Since the hospital implemented electronic medical records, I can go to the hospital alone, then I am guided to get an automatic number, use my fingerprint to scan the medical examination results without having to bring any documents. After the examination, I just need to call home and my children will transfer the payment.”
At the Cardiology - Geriatrics Department of Phu Yen General Hospital, doctors previously had to wait for patients to bring images to have a basis for examination and diagnosis. Now, immediately after having clinical images, the Department of Diagnostic Imaging sends them directly to the storage system, doctors of the Cardiology - Geriatrics Department as well as other departments only need to download, analyze and give treatment directions.

Patient information is integrated directly into the computer system during the medical examination and treatment process. |
Doctor Pham Xuan Anh (Department of Cardiology - Geriatrics) said: “Digital software effectively supports doctors in the process of examining and diagnosing diseases. Previously, we spent a lot of time asking patients what medications they were taking, what medications they reacted to, etc. With X-ray films, patients often could not keep them, so sometimes the process had to be redone from the beginning. Now with the software, doctors only need to look up to know the patient's medical history, as well as the database to compare how the disease progressed. From there, they can quickly decide whether to apply the old treatment regimen or replace it with a new one.”
At the Electrocardiogram Room at Phu Yen Eye Hospital, after the patient is examined, the results go directly into the computer software without having to go through the scanning step as before. To print the electrocardiogram chart, the doctor only needs to scan the patient's code with the scanner right next to it.
According to Dr. Huynh Phuc Nhi, Director of Phu Yen Eye Hospital, not only the Electrocardiogram Department, but also other departments and rooms at the hospital apply digital transformation synchronously. This is of great significance to the hospital in particular and the health sector in general in providing health care services to the people and optimizing medical examination and treatment processes and procedures. Both patients and medical staff benefit from medical digital transformation, not only in terms of time but most importantly, in providing faster diagnostic results with higher accuracy from stored information about the patient's treatment process.
