Vice President gives gifts to policy households

Attending the ceremony to commemorate the 136th anniversary of Uncle Ton's birth were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province and departments, branches, sectors and organizations in the province.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and delegates held a moment of silence, respectfully remembered and reviewed the life and career of President Ton Duc Thang, an exemplary leader, a staunch communist, a close comrade in arms of the great President Ho Chi Minh , a shining example of revolutionary morality who fought and sacrificed his whole life for the cause of national liberation, national reunification, building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

President Ton Duc Thang was born on August 20, 1888 in Ong Ho Islet, An Hoa village, Dinh Thanh commune, Long Xuyen province (now My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province) in a middle-class farming family.

Uncle Ton grew up in a country under foreign invasion. Patriotic movements against foreign invasion had a profound impact on Uncle Ton's awareness and from then on, Uncle Ton soon participated in revolutionary activities.

With nearly 70 years of continuous revolutionary activities, 27 years as Chairman of the Lien Viet Front and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and more than 10 years as President , Uncle Ton devoted his whole life to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, our people and international friends.

With such great contributions, Uncle Ton was the first person to be honored by the Party and State with the Gold Star Order - the most noble Order; was awarded the Lenin Order, the Lenin Prize for Peace and Friendship among Nations and many other noble awards and titles.

The name and career of President Ton Duc Thang will live forever with the country, forever in the hearts of the people and his hometown of An Giang. Uncle Ton left the next generation an extremely valuable legacy of ideology, morality, indomitable will, loyalty and the passionate patriotism and love for the people of a communist soldier...

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and delegates also visited and respectfully burned incense at the childhood memorial house of President Ton Duc Thang.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presents gifts to policy households

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented 30 gifts to policy households in My Hoa Hung commune to encourage people to promote revolutionary traditions, continue to contribute their efforts and intelligence, and join hands with the local government to build Uncle Ton's homeland to become more and more prosperous and civilized.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan also visited and presented gifts to the Management Board of President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site, hoping that the staff here will continue to do a better job of collecting and introducing the value of this relic site to tourists.
