On the morning of October 24, Mr. Hoang Phu Hien, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of the Department of Health, went to Nghe An General Hospital to visit and encourage nurses and relatives of patients injured in the attack that occurred at the Neonatal Department - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital on the morning of October 23.

Mr. Hoang Phu Hien, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, together with leaders of Nghe An Department of Health, directly went to Nghe An General Hospital to visit and encourage nurses and relatives of patients injured in the attack.
Here, the Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee kindly inquired about the health of the victims, acknowledged the brave spirit of the doctors and nurses who risked their lives to protect the newborns in dangerous times. At the same time, he directed Nghe An General Hospital and the Department of Health to mobilize all resources, focus on emergency, treatment, and care for the victims, and arrange support and encouragement for the injured medical staff .
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province requested the police to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the incident, strictly handle the perpetrators according to the law, and at the same time review and strengthen measures to ensure security and safety for medical staff and patients at medical examination and treatment facilities across the province.

Provincial leaders visited and encouraged the injured patient's family.
Previously, on the morning of October 23, at the Neonatal Department - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Ban Van Vy (born in 1996, from Bac Ninh, residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An) suddenly attacked with a knife, injuring 7 people (including 3 nurses, 2 pediatric patients and 2 family members).
In a fit of hysteria, Vy tried to attack his wife and child, then grabbed a newborn baby girl and strangled her right on the hospital bed. The baby's grandmother rushed to grab her, but was stabbed many times. The perpetrator continued to seriously injure nurses Nguyen Thi Nhung, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, and Nguyen Thuy Trang, of which nurse Trang was seriously injured and had to undergo emergency surgery at Nghe An General Hospital.
The nurses bravely rushed in to grab each child in the midst of the chaos, saving all the newborns from tragedy. The subject was later subdued by hospital security and police.
Immediately after the incident, leaders of Nghe An Department of Health were present at the scene, directly directed the emergency work, stabilized the situation, and quickly reported to the Ministry of Health, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and Nghe An Provincial Police.
Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health Nguyen Huu Le said: "The medical staff showed bravery, putting the lives of newborn babies above their own safety. That action is the truest expression of medical ethics in danger."
The victims are currently receiving intensive treatment and their health is gradually stabilizing. Nghe An Provincial Police continue to investigate and handle the case according to the law.
