On July 13, Comrade Nguyen Huu Thap - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the situation and had a working session with the People's Committee of Sa Thay district on the situation of new rural construction, fruit tree development, sugarcane raw material areas and activities of cooperatives in the area.

Also participating in the working delegation were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Planning and Investment, and the Provincial Cooperative Union.

Sa Thay District People's Committee reported specifically to the Provincial Working Group on the situation of new rural construction, fruit tree development, sugarcane material areas and activities of cooperatives in the area in recent times.

Accordingly, the entire Sa Thay district currently has 4 communes meeting new rural standards (Sa Son, Sa Nhon, Sa Nghia, Sa Binh), achieving an average of 15 criteria/commune. The construction of advanced new rural communes, the construction of model new rural residential areas, and the construction of new rural villages in ethnic minority areas are focused on implementation.

To date, the total area of fruit trees in Sa Thay district has reached 1,426.3 hectares (new planting in 2023 is 196.83 hectares, reaching 65.61% of the annual plan); the area has been granted 2 durian growing area codes with an area of 31 hectares. The situation of pests and diseases on fruit trees is under control, not causing major damage or spreading widely.

The current sugarcane area in Sa Thay district is 152 hectares, with an average yield of 571 quintals/hectare. Based on the local soil potential and the province's orientation to expand the sugarcane material area, Sa Thay district strives to increase the sugarcane growing area to 300 hectares in the 2023-2024 crop year.

Sa Thay district currently has 22 cooperatives; of which 17 are operating, 3 have been dissolved, and 2 are temporarily suspended. The cooperatives operate effectively mainly in the agricultural sector, contributing significantly to the district's economic growth.

At the meeting, the People's Committee of Sa Thay district proposed and recommended that the Provincial People's Committee create favorable conditions to remove difficulties in the operations of a number of sectors in Sa Thay district in order to contribute to the continued growth and development of the local socio-economy.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thap requested the Sa Thay District People's Committee to pay attention to directing local functional branches to create favorable conditions and support to bring Ya Ly commune to the "finish line" of new rural construction in 2023. To do this, the Ya Ly Commune People's Committee needs to mobilize resources, prioritize easy-to-implement criteria to do first; The Sa Thay District People's Committee regularly inspects and monitors the process of implementing new rural construction in Ya Ly commune, proactively removing difficulties for this locality in implementing "difficult criteria".

Propose that the provincial departments and functional branches coordinate and support Sa Thay district in the work of building new rural areas in the area.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the efforts of Sa Thay district in promoting the development of economic models in the area, especially fruit trees. At the same time, he suggested that local authorities at all levels further promote propaganda and mobilization work so that people can boldly borrow capital, actively change crop structure, and apply scientific and technical advances in production to improve productivity and quality of agricultural products.

Before working with the People's Committee of Sa Thay district, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thap and the provincial delegation inspected a number of models and projects in the area, including: Sugarcane planting model and the area planned to plant sugarcane in association with the Kon Tum Sugar Joint Stock Company in 2023; checking the progress of the High-tech Industrial-scale Concentrated Dairy Farming Project of TH Group in Mo Rai commune; visiting the durian garden of Thai Thanh Agricultural, Forestry and Service Cooperative (Ro Koi commune).
