At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and contributing opinions related to the suitability of the content of the revised Power Plan VIII adjustment project with the new commitments of the Government and the Prime Minister; the ability to meet the electricity demand for the country's socio-economic development and the people's living needs in each period with the socio-economic development target up to 2030 reaching "double digits", in accordance with the Prime Minister's directive; the feasibility of the proposed power development plan (total power source capacity, reserve level, power source structure, investment, finance, etc.). At the same time, propose solutions to organize the implementation of the plan, solutions on policy mechanisms, implementation resources, and organization of the Power Plan VIII adjustment project for the Ministry of Industry and Trade to synthesize and complete the plan to submit to the Prime Minister.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that the adjustment must ensure the correct viewpoint, objectives, and principles of planning adjustment in Decision 1710/QD-TTg, dated December 31, 2024, approving the task of adjusting the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The adjustment results must have a long-term vision, be effective, sustainable, and put national and ethnic interests first and foremost. At the same time, it must maximize local advantages, optimize overall national factors, ensure national energy, connect Vietnam's power grid with neighboring countries, and solve the problem of power shortage.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall promptly review and adjust relevant legal documents, promptly issue appropriate policies and mechanisms; establish a Working Group to implement the VIII Power Plan, support and coordinate with localities to implement the plan. Localities must closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, review the plan, proactively and actively implement projects according to the VIII Power Plan, ensuring implementation according to the motto "Local decision, local action, local responsibility".
