At the meeting, the South African Vice President expressed his joy at witnessing the positive development of the Vietnam-South Africa relationship in recent times and welcomed Prime Minister Pham Pham Minh Chinh to South Africa in his capacity as head of the Government.

The South African Vice President also expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support and was pleased to have Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh present at the G20 Summit, saying that this is a very special time for South Africa to host the first G20 Summit on African soil.
Expressing his pleasure at meeting Vice President Paul Mashatile again after the Vice President's visit to Vietnam in December 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared that this working trip is a continuation of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's visit to Vietnam in October 2025.
The Head of Government affirmed that South Africa, the South African people, President Nelson Mandela and the South African people's indomitability against Apartheid are always in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.

At the meeting, the South African Vice President and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh discussed trade and investment cooperation and the role of businesses in promoting relations between the two countries.
The South African Vice President shared that he knew that Vietnam was interested in the coal and mineral sector, and expressed his desire to further promote trade between South Africa and Vietnam. The South African Vice President affirmed the important role of businesses, because what has been committed can only become reality if businesses implement it.
The South African Vice President said that businesses of the two countries can exploit the potential for more cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, road development, seaports, low-carbon minerals as well as exchange, share experiences and learn good practices.

Agreeing with the South African Vice President's comments, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the two sides need to concretize their commitments with specific programs and contracts, in which the two governments play a creative role and businesses play a pioneering role.
On the basis of the good relationship between the two countries, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides cooperate to build a self-reliant, self-reliant economy, supporting and bolstering each other. The Prime Minister expressed his belief that in the spirit of “heart-to-heart cooperation”, the two sides can combine South Africa’s natural conditions, South Africa’s wisdom and Vietnam’s wisdom to promote cooperation projects, contributing to promoting bilateral relations and bringing benefits to the people of both sides.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam will contribute its utmost to the success of the G20 Summit in South Africa this year, helping to enhance the role and position of South Africa.
