Pho Thuan: Efforts to reach the advanced new rural finish line

After being recognized as a new rural commune in 2018, Pho Thuan commune immediately started building an advanced new rural commune, aiming to reach the standard by 2025. In the process of building an advanced new rural commune and a model new rural village, Pho Thuan always determined that income is the most important criterion, aiming to continuously improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

In recent times, Pho Thuan commune has promoted propaganda and mobilized people to change the structure of crops and livestock, and apply scientific and technical advances in production. Promote the development of garden economy , farm economy, and afforestation; implement programs and projects to develop production, provide vocational training, create jobs, and increase income for people... Up to now, the average income has reached 60 million VND/person/year.

“In recent years, Pho Thuan commune has actively expanded and developed suitable specialized production models, bringing valuable and high-yield crops into production such as implementing a production chain, consuming rice seed products, converting crops in rice growing areas with difficulty in irrigation water to growing watermelons,” said Chairman of Pho Thuan Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Minh.

Many roads in Pho Thuan commune (Duc Pho town) are invested in construction.

In addition, the locality also encourages the development of small-scale handicraft industries, key to the locality such as the production of cakes, candies, rice paper, civil carpentry, blacksmithing, etc. Many households have also proactively renewed their thinking, become more dynamic in economic development to escape poverty. Thereby, more and more effective economic models have emerged, increasing people's income. By the end of 2024, the commune's poverty rate will decrease to 1.82%, and near-poor households will decrease to 2.11%.

Finalize the criteria

According to the set of criteria for the advanced NTM phase 2021 - 2025, up to now, Pho Thuan commune has achieved 19/19 criteria. To achieve this result, the Party Committee of the commune has mobilized the entire political system to participate, both seeking support from superiors and mobilizing socialization to build roads and bridges. Thanks to that, infrastructure in Pho Thuan has been invested synchronously, with a system of commune roads longer than 11.23km, village and inter-village roads nearly 6.5km long, 100% of alleys are hardened, creating convenience for people to travel and develop services; 100% of rural roads in the commune are bright - green - clean - beautiful. "Implementing the movement to build NTM, the State has invested in building spacious rural roads, helping people to travel and transport goods more conveniently, life here has clearly developed", said Mr. Tran Minh Dat, a resident of My Thuan village.

According to the People's Committee of Pho Thuan commune, implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, Pho Thuan commune has mobilized more than 25.5 billion VND to carry out the tasks; of which, the locality and people contributed more than 9 billion VND, thousands of working days, land, and architectural materials to build infrastructure and develop production.

In addition, cultural institutions have also received investment attention. Up to now, the cultural life of the people in the villages has changed a lot, the forms of healthy cultural activities, the number of people participating in cultural and artistic movements has increased. The rate of villages recognized as cultural and families recognized as cultural families for 3 consecutive years has reached 70% or more.

“In the coming time, local Party committees and authorities will continue to review, consolidate, improve quality, maintain standards of NTM criteria that have been met and organize the implementation of unmet contents and criteria, striving to bring the commune to the advanced NTM finish line in 2025,” Mr. Minh emphasized.
