Women's startup movement spreads throughout Binh Thuan

Project 939 in Binh Thuan province has been effectively implemented and achieved many positive results. Thanks to that, the women's start-up movement has spread widely from rural to urban areas, from the plains to the islands.

On May 27, in Phan Thiet City, the Binh Thuan Provincial Women's Union held a conference to review Project 938 "Propaganda,education , mobilization, and support for women to participate in solving a number of social issues related to women" phase 2 (2023 - 2025) and summarize Project 939 "Supporting women to start businesses" phase 2017 - 2025.

According to the summary report on the implementation of Project 939 on "Supporting women to start a business" in the period of 2017-2025 of the Women's Union of Binh Thuan province: Project 939 has been effectively implemented and achieved many positive results. Women's awareness of starting a business/starting a business has changed positively. The women's start-up movement has spread widely from rural to urban areas, from the plains to the islands.

Members and women are confident and bold in proposing ideas from simple to complex, diligently researching and learning from experiences to form ideas, participating in forums and competitions to affirm the development of ideas.

Every year, the number of surveyed startup/business ideas increases; Ideas that are flexible, creative, apply high technology to create products that ensure health and safety for consumers while protecting the environment, have high feasibility and sustainable development; Resources to support startup/business ideas are of interest.

Some specific results, the Women's Union of Binh Thuan province has organized many conferences and seminars related to startups such as: Orientation seminar "Supporting women to start a business"; Dialogue conference on the topic "Policies to support women to start a business, increasing women's economic power in 2019" between leaders of provincial departments/sectors with female-owned enterprises/cooperatives and women members; Workshop on connecting, supporting, protecting the rights of women's enterprises, forming a startup ecosystem; Workshop "Binh Thuan women start a business in Binh Thuan - Digital transformation connects the future"...

In 8 years, from 2017 - 2024, organize 5 times "Women's Entrepreneurship Day" suitable for each theme oriented by the Central Union every year; Nominate 15 ideas to participate in "Women's Entrepreneurship Day" at the Central level. Most recently in 2024, there was 1 third prize at the national level; 1 second prize and 1 consolation prize at the regional level and the Central Union of Vietnam Women's Union supported 313 million VND/5 ideas. This is the basis for startup ideas to have the opportunity to access, exchange, share, learn experiences in startups/business, introduce and connect to consume startup products in a sustainable way.

The Association also mobilized the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) to support nearly 195 million VND/10 startup ideas/cooperatives and individual business households affected by Covid-19 to purchase equipment such as dragon fruit dryers, multi-purpose rice threshers, automatic misting irrigation systems... to serve production and processing of products in Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Duc Linh, Ham Tan districts...

The Association at all levels also organizes "Women's Entrepreneurship Competition", "Women's Entrepreneurship Day", "Startup Market"; organizes a seminar to share startup ideas with the theme "Women's creative startups and green transformation"...

The Provincial Women's Union has inspected and supervised the implementation of Project 939 and monitored start-up ideas and cooperatives. Through work, it has acknowledged the attention and active support from local leaders in implementing Project 939, creating conditions for accessing capital, organizing skill training, and guiding the management of enterprises and cooperatives.

Cooperatives actively improve product quality according to VietGap and GlobalGap standards, apply modern equipment, and meet market demand. Many start-up models have applied high technology, organic agricultural production, sustainable development, and brought about clear economic efficiency such as: Tien Phat Vegetable Cooperative, Dong Dan Turmeric Starch, Lingzhi mushroom products, Quilling paper paintings, dragon fruit products, Kim Anh cereal powder, Thien Phu bird's nest... Some establishments have expanded their production/business scale...

In addition, the Union at all levels coordinated with relevant units to mobilize the establishment of 35 cooperatives and 49 cooperative groups with women participating in leadership, management or co-leadership, management in the fields of agriculture, seafood, and agricultural product processing. Connecting with non-governmental programs and projects, banks supported 96,459 billion VND for nearly 2,800 ideas...

At the program, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province awarded certificates of merit to groups and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to implement Project 939. In addition, the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of Binh Thuan province awarded certificates of merit to 13 groups and 13 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Project 938; 12 groups and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Project 939.
