The wife of the General Secretary and President visits Vo Thi Thang Primary School

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, on the morning of September 26, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited Vo Thi Thang Primary School in Playa District, the capital of La Habana. Accompanying her were Mrs. Lis Cuesta Peraza, First Secretary and President of Cuba, and Cuban Ministerof Education Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto.

Vo Thi Thang Primary School was established by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and the Cuban State Council in late 1968 after the photo “Smile of Victory” was published by the international press, with the aim of expressing the solidarity of the Party, State and people of Cuba with the cause of national liberation of the Vietnamese people, protesting against the unjust war in Vietnam.

Here, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and Mrs. Lis Cuesta Peraza listened to the leaders of the Cuban education sector and the school principal introduce the history of formation, development as well as the teaching and learning results of teachers and students of Vo Thi Thang school; visited the school's facilities, including the exhibition booth of images and artifacts about Vietnam and the modern IT room donated by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in March 2018.

Ms. Maria Elena de la Rosa Vidal, Principal of Vo Thi Thang Primary School, expressed her joy at welcoming the wife to visit the school, talk to and encourage teachers and students; and was moved that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have always cared for and shared the difficulties of the Cuban people over the past 6 decades. That is the long-standing and sustainable traditional friendship between the two countries.

The school is committed to building increasingly more spacious facilities, constantly improving the quality of teaching to meet the needs of learning and be worthy of the affection of the Party, State and People of Vietnam, as well as the special friendship between the two countries.

Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her emotion when visiting the school named after the heroic Vietnamese revolutionary soldier Vo Thi Thang for the first time and was warmly welcomed by Cuban teachers and students with warm and friendly feelings.

According to the Lady, although Vietnam and Cuba are half a world apart, they have an invisible bond that closely connects them. It is the traditional solidarity, the special comradeship and brotherhood between the people of the two countries that President Ho Chi Minh, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and generations of leaders of the two countries have constantly nurtured. The beautiful school named after the heroine Vo Thi Thang is a vivid manifestation of that loyal relationship and special affection between the two peoples.

Delighted with the achievements that the School, teachers and students have achieved in the past school years, the Madam wished the teachers and students of Vo Thi Thang Primary School to continue to strive to compete in teaching and learning well, to be well prepared with knowledge to become future masters in building and developing Cuba to become more and more beautiful, to continue the work of previous generations and to continuously foster the solidarity and loyalty between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Madam hopes that the school will continue to follow the tradition, inherit the revolutionary cause of previous generations, and continuously foster the solidarity and loyalty between Vietnam and Cuba. On this occasion, the Madam presented the school and students with some teaching equipment and school supplies.

Also in the morning, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and Mrs. First Secretary and President of Cuba Lis Cuesta Peraza visited the El Arca Puppet Theater and Museum. Here, the two ladies listened to the Director of Heritage of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana Gladys María Collazo Usallán and the Director of the El Arca Puppet Theater and Museum Lizzett Talavera Calvo introduce the architecture of the Theater-Museum, the culture of puppetry and enjoyed the puppet show “Romeo and Juliet”./.
