Hau Giang women spread the spirit of both starting a business and protecting the environment

Visiting the OCOP product booth; exchanging plastic waste for women's startup products; consulting and supporting women's businesses to adapt to the digital economy... - these are the outstanding activities at the "Women Start-up Green Living" Festival organized by the Women's Union of Hau Giang province.

On June 18, in Vi Thanh City, the Women's Union of Hau Giang Province organized the opening ceremony of the "Women Start-up Green Living" Festival and the final round of the Provincial Women's Startup Competition 2024. Attending were Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Mr. Tran Van Huyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hau Giang Province.

The 2024 "Women Start-up Green Living" Festival takes place in 2 days, June 18 & 19, with a series of 6 activities, including: Final Round of the 2024 Women's Startup Competition of Hau Giang Province, with the theme "Green Startup Project"; displaying and introducing OCOP products, agricultural products, safe food for consumers' health by Women Start-ups; consulting and supporting activities for women to start-up, digital transformation, access to credit; activities of exchanging plastic waste for women's startup products; launching the implementation of the model "Women apply technology to production, business, green consumption"; discussion "Consulting and supporting women to start-up, develop sustainable businesses for the environment and adapt to the digital economy ".

The booths are arranged into 3 small areas: Area for displaying innovative start-up products of women and products of projects/ideas participating in the Women's Start-up Competition of Hau Giang province in 2024; consulting area to support women in starting a business; area for exchanging plastic waste for women's start-up products. This is also a new point of this year's festival.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Thu (Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang) shared: "I really like participating in the Startup Festival organized by the Women's Union, because here, I find many reputable and quality products. Mentioning women's startup products means mentioning Vietnamese products, high quality, products with clear origin, many environmentally friendly products".

Along with the activities is the Provincial Final Round of the "Women's Entrepreneurship in Hau Giang Province 2024" contest with the theme "Green Startup Project". The contest was launched on October 20, 2023. To date, the Organizing Committee has received 174 entries (an increase of more than 77 entries compared to 2023). After 2 rounds, the Organizing Committee has selected 15 ideas/projects to participate in the final round of awards.

The "Women Start-up Green Living" festival is built on the spirit of promoting female members and women to strive to get rich legitimately, start a business, develop businesses but not forget to protect the environment.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, President of the Women's Union of Hau Giang province, said: "Through a series of activities, the Union wishes to inspire women to start a business, business skills, promote and spread the spirit of women starting a business and reach a large number of women. In addition, the festival also raises awareness among members and women about digital transformation, the necessity and urgency of applying information technology and social networks in start-up activities; raise women's awareness about green economy, encourage enterprises, cooperatives, cooperatives, and business households owned by women to develop products and services using clean energy sources, renewable energy, circular economy, clean and organic agricultural production, environmentally friendly products and protecting human health".

The activities at the festival also create a useful playground for members, women, and women-owned businesses... to have the opportunity to exchange and share experiences in management and operation; helping members and women entrepreneurs access the market, connect, and introduce products to a wide range of consumers.

On this occasion, the Women's Union of Hau Giang province coordinated to mobilize credit institutions in the area to grant credit limits to support 15 ideas/projects participating in the Final Round of the Startup Competition with a credit limit of 100 million VND/project from the province's policy credit capital; Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Hau Giang branch, granted a credit limit of 300 million VND/project for models, production and business establishments, and enterprises.

The Southern Working Committee (under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union) supported 5 bread carts for 5 members starting a business in Luong Nghia and Xa Phien communes (Long My, Hau Giang), with a total value of 75 million VND.
