At the conference, many opinions said that Vietnam is facing challenges of natural resource depletion, environmental pollution, plastic waste pollution, drought, water resource depletion and pollution. Finding solutions to address these challenges is a difficult problem.

According to a research team from the University of Natural Resources and Environment in Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam, each year about 3.6 million tons of plastic waste are generated that have not been collected and treated properly, of which 453,000 tons leak into the ocean. Poor management of plastic waste not only pollutes the environment but also leads to the formation and spread of microplastics - extremely small plastic particles that can penetrate ecosystems and food chains, causing negative impacts on human health.

This conference is not only a place for academic exchange, but also an international roundtable for us to together shape and create highly applicable technological solutions, contributing to solving global challenges of climate change, food security and efficient resource use.

Mr. Truong Minh Huy Vu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, also said that Ho Chi Minh City is facing problems of subsidence, flooding, and environmental pollution. Finding suitable solutions to handle these challenges requires the cooperation of scientists and leading experts. In the current context, science and technology play a particularly important role.

The 7th International Conference on Science and Technology in 2025 focuses on areas such as: technology and management of sustainable smart agriculture and environment; land management towards organic agriculture; application of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the fields of resources, environment, and agriculture; applied earth science and resource management - adaptation to climate change; new material and energy technology in sustainable development; development of green economy , circular economy; geospatial intelligence in smart agriculture, resource and environmental management.
