Faced with severe damage caused by heavy rain and flood discharge from Song Ray Lake, the Party Committee of Ho Tram Commune (HCMC) has directed functional agencies to strengthen prevention and damage recovery work for farmers in the affected area in Tan Ru Hamlet.
Accordingly, the commune mobilized union members, youth, farmers' association, militia and vehicles to organize the relocation of household items of flooded households to dry places; and reinforced pig farms for livestock households.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhung, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Ho Tram Commune, said that due to the impact of heavy rains combined with flood discharge from the Ray River, from November 12 until now, 46 hectares of production area of farmers in Tan Ru Hamlet have been severely affected.
Specifically, 200 lemon trees, 150 mango trees (1 ha); 450 guava trees (about 4,500 m 2 ); 30 ha of rice were completely flooded... In addition, many areas of sweet potatoes, longans, bananas, mangoes, and papayas near harvest were also completely lost. 100 chickens and 100 pigs were trapped in flooded areas.
There are no specific statistics yet, but the damage is very heavy.

Although the impact of the second flood discharge of Song Ray reservoir has not been completely resolved, the Center for Management and Exploitation of Irrigation Works (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City) continues to announce the third flood discharge of Song Ray reservoir. According to the center, the current water level of Song Ray reservoir is at 72.82m, close to the design capacity (214.779/215.36 million m³). In order to ensure the safety of the Song Ray reservoir project, the property and lives of people in the downstream area of the project; the Center for Management and Exploitation of Irrigation Works plans to discharge the third flood, which is expected to last for 10 days from November 16 to 26. According to the recommendation, when discharging the flood, the left bank of the Ray River will continue to be affected and deeply flooded.
With the above announcement, Ho Tram Commune People's Committee has requested the locality to widely announce on information channels to inform people. In particular, aquaculture households are advised to proactively protect their assets and not go down to the river to fish during flood discharge.
