Answering reporters' questions about the current situation in the energy market, especially whether the West continues to buy Russian oil and gas, but not directly but indirectly, Mr. Shulginov affirmed: "Yes."
Earlier, Minister Shulginov stated that Russia continues to fulfill all obligations to provide energy resources.
According to him, the Russian energy industry, despite sanctions from the US and the European Union (EU), is operating stably.
* Previously, on May 26, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to the US Yerzhan Ashikbayev said that the stability of oil supply from this country to the global market depends on the transportation process through Russia.
The ambassador is concerned that any disruption to the world's oil flow due to Western sanctions against Russia could cause a catastrophic scenario.
“We take into account the common interests of all parties, interests in the stability of global markets and also in the stability of supplies. This is very important for the functioning of the Kazakh economy , as well as the entire global economy,” he said.
Asked whether he saw any risks that the sanctions posed to Kazakhstan’s oil shipments, the diplomat laid out a number of scenarios that he described as having “apocalyptic” effects.
Kazakhstan supplies oil to the global market through one of the world's largest oil pipelines - the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).
According to Mr. Ashikbayev, CPC remains an important project for Kazakhstan, accounting for 80% of the country's crude oil exports.
CPC transports about 1.2 million barrels of crude oil per day from Kazakhstan to Europe and then ships it to the United States.
However, pipeline operations were disrupted last year due to storm damage to equipment at a Black Sea port, along with disruptions caused by Russian sanctions, raising concerns about a global supply crisis.
