Even chip giant Qualcomm is wary of legal hurdles?

Previously, Intel went through a difficult period with poor financial performance, leading to mass layoffs and cost-cutting. Intel's stock price also plummeted, causing the chip giant to be removed from the Dow Jones index.

Recognizing the opportunity, Qualcomm intended to acquire Intel. However, this deal would face intense scrutiny from regulators, both domestically and internationally, especially in the context of US-China trade tensions.

Bloomberg reports that Qualcomm is reconsidering its plan to acquire all of Intel due to concerns about legal complexities. Instead, the company may only acquire certain parts of Intel, or wait for a more opportune time to revisit the deal. Previously, Qualcomm was reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring Intel's design division.

Qualcomm's concerns about regulatory hurdles are entirely justified. In 2022, NVIDIA had to abandon its $40 billion acquisition of Arm due to opposition from regulators.

Will the high-profile deal between Qualcomm and Intel have a happy ending for both sides? The answer will only be revealed in the near future.
