Preserving identity, elevating Vietnamese cuisine
This is not just a temporary recognition but a testament to the perseverance, consistency and constant innovation in the journey to preserve the soul of Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of modern urban areas.
Sharing about this third milestone, Ms. Hanh Pham, founder and operator of both restaurants, could not hide her emotions: “This award is not for me alone but is a worthy recognition for the efforts of the whole team. This will certainly be a great motivation for us to continue our journey of preserving and developing the value of Vietnamese cuisine.”
Not choosing the path of "delicacies" to conquer diners, Quan An Ngon and Ngon Garden create an impression with pure Vietnamese dishes, rich in the flavor of the homeland but recreated in a neat space, modern service and consistent experience.
This is what culinary and tourism experts consider to be a blend of tradition and contemporary management thinking.
Commenting on Michelin’s selection criteria, Ms. Hanh Pham shared: “Being recognized by Michelin also means that diners’ expectations are getting higher and higher. The two restaurants are very aware of their responsibility in constantly improving the quality of their dishes as well as innovating to bring customers the most valuable culinary experiences.”
Not stopping at serving delicious, clean, and beautiful food, the two restaurants are also aiming for a closed value chain model, starting with the "Ngon Farm" project - a green farm with self-sufficient raw materials.
This is a strategic move to control food quality from the source, while also being in line with the trend of sustainable cuisine, which is increasingly promoted by Michelin.
“In the future, Ngon Garden and Quan An Ngon, or even Ngon Saigon, will be steadfast in honoring and developing traditional culinary values, but will take new steps to modernize the approach, both in terms of space, technology and service,” said Ms. Hanh Pham.
Beyond the limits of registration
The remarkable point is the alertness, not resting on the laurels. Ms. Hanh Pham sees being named in Michelin not as a destination but as a challenging reminder: “The honor from Michelin is not a destination, this is a milestone to remind me and my colleagues to constantly strive to be better every day.”
Even before Michelin, Quan An Ngon and Ngon Garden were known as the top prestigious addresses for Vietnamese cuisine for international tourists and domestic gourmets.
But now, after being honored, the restaurant is even more strict: reviewing operating procedures, training staff, upgrading every detail, both visible and invisible, from bowls and plates to the smiles and eyes of the waiters.
That is also the reason why experts evaluate Ngon Garden and Ngon Restaurant as not only award-winning restaurants, but also as exemplary models of developing national cuisine in depth and breadth, with foundation, strategy, identity and vision.
Vision and inner strength
In the context of Vietnamese cuisine gradually positioning its image on the world map, the fact that restaurants such as Ngon Garden and Quan An Ngon continue to be listed is a positive sign for a wave of development with depth and internal strength.
Not only stopping at the aspect of delicious food, they are contributing to redefining the concept of Vietnamese cuisine in the new era, where tradition and creativity go hand in hand, identity and standards coexist.
When a Vietnamese restaurant is recognized by Michelin, it is not only an individual or collective success, but also the pride of a long-standing culinary culture that is gradually affirming its global value.
Michelin Guide 2025 lists 181 Vietnamese restaurants
• 9 restaurants with 1 Michelin star
• 2 restaurants received Michelin Green Star for their commitment to sustainability.
• 63 establishments received Bib Gourmand awards, recognizing quality cuisine at reasonable prices.
• 109 establishments are on the Michelin Selected list.
