Central region has heavy rain in the dry season

According to statistics from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), due to the impact of storm No. 1 (storm Wutip) from 7:00 p.m. on June 11 to 4:00 p.m. on June 12, the provinces from Quang Binh - Quang Ngai and Kon Tum had very heavy rain, with average rainfall of 200 - 300 mm.

In particular, some localities recorded rainfall from 350 - 550 mm, some places higher such as Bach Ma peak 841 mm, Thuong Lo 775 mm, Khe Tre 549 mm (Hue); Suoi Luong 503 mm, Hoa Hai 479 mm ( Da Nang City); Dai Hiep 396 mm, Ha Tan bridge 398 mm, Dai Son 418 mm (Quang Nam); La To 386 mm, Hai Lam 317 mm, Ta Long 295 mm (Quang Tri)...

Heavy rains caused 725 houses to be flooded (Quang Nam); 3 ships to sink (2 ships operating at sea in Quang Binh, 1 ship anchored at a wharf in Da Nang); 48,675 hectares of rice and crops (Quang Binh 7,474 hectares, Hue 17,069 hectares, Da Nang 1,496 hectares, Quang Tri 14,809 hectares, Quang Nam 7,826 hectares) were damaged; 33 hectares of aquaculture (Da Nang) were completely lost; 20 flights were affected.

The floods also flooded two overflow tunnels on National Highway 9B (Le Thuy District, Quang Binh) and Ca Roang 2 tunnel (Bo Trach District, Quang Binh), causing traffic disruption in these two districts. In Quang Tri Province, seven overflow tunnels on roads in Dakrong District are in a similar situation.

In Da Nang, many inner-city roads were flooded and the water is gradually receding. In Quang Nam province, provincial roads 603B, 608, 609, 610B, 611, 615B were flooded in some places, and a pontoon bridge was washed away.

According to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, as of 4 p.m. on June 12, border guards from provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen had coordinated with localities, families, ship owners, and captains to notify, count, and guide 53,792 vehicles and 223,054 people about the developments and direction of storm No. 1 so that they could proactively move and escape from dangerous areas.

The army mobilized 264,601 officers and soldiers, 5,321 vehicles of all kinds (3,338 cars, 111 ships, 1,437 boats and canoes, 428 special vehicles, 7 aircraft) to respond to storm No. 1.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of storm No. 1, the Central region will continue to have rain. Specifically, from the evening of June 12 to 13, from Ha Tinh to Hue, there will be very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100 - 180 mm, in some places over 350 mm.

Meanwhile, in the evening and night of June 12, the southern Nghe An area, from Da Nang to Quang Ngai, will have moderate to heavy rain, with common rainfall of 40 - 90 mm, in some places over 150 mm.

The northern Central Highlands and Binh Dinh have moderate rain, some places have heavy rain with common rainfall of 15 - 30 mm, some places over 50 mm.
