Take care of soldiers on duty during Tet, ensuring both high combat readiness and a warm, emotional Tet holiday

Visiting and wishing a Happy New Year to the people of Thanh Chuong district, right when the people in the district were actively organizing fairs and performing arts to welcome spring, President Vo Van Thuong and his delegation visited booths introducing local specialties and OCOP products of the district and Nghe An province.

Listening to the report on the socio-economic situation in the area, President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Thanh Chuong district for overcoming difficulties, uniting, making efforts, and joining hands to bring positive changes to the district's socio-economic situation, and gradually improving people's lives. The poverty rate in the district is only 3.4%, near-poor households are 5.7%, lower than the average of the province. Many communes have completed the new rural standards and some communes have met the advanced new rural standards.

President Vo Van Thuong visited, encouraged and wished a Happy New Year to the people attending the program.

Emphasizing that the country is carrying out the Doi Moi process very successfully with many important achievements and is well implementing many sustainable development goals and millennium goals, the President stated that the Party and State always put people at the center of development, paying special attention to caring for the poor, people in difficult circumstances, policy families, etc. The President hopes that the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Chuong district will make efforts to further develop the district, improve people's lives, implement social security well, and move towards no more poor and near-poor households.

On this occasion, President Vo Van Thuong and leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Red Cross Society and Nghe An province presented Tet gifts to families of meritorious people, disadvantaged families, the poor and workers. In addition, 60,000 energy-saving stoves and 1 semi-boarding kitchen were also presented to the people of Thanh Chuong district.

Next, President Vo Van Thuong and the delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to officers and soldiers of Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station. Speaking at the event, the President acknowledged and congratulated officers and soldiers of Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station on their achievements in performing their duties in an important area with difficult and harsh terrain and weather; contributing to maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developing border.

The officers and soldiers have built and promoted the solidarity between the army and the people, gained the trust and love of the people; coordinated well with the local government to build a strong political organization; implemented well the foreign policies and guidelines of the Party and State in performing their tasks, and together with the Border Guard force of the neighboring country organized joint patrols, together controlling and stabilizing the situation in the border area.

Emphasizing that 2024 is the year to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the 65th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day, and the 35th anniversary of the National Border Guard Day, the President said that this is a meaningful occasion for the Nghe An Border Guard force in general and the officers and soldiers of Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station in particular to promote the glorious tradition of the Border Guard, and successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and Army.

Noting the importance of Thanh Thuy Border Gate in economic and commercial activities, the President shared that the good implementation of immigration and import-export activities will help promote the socio-economic development of Nghe An as well as maintain a peaceful, stable and developed border. Therefore, the provincial Border Guard force and the Border Gate must be united, intelligent, creative, and promptly advise on the handling of problems and situations that arise; ensure smooth import-export activities but effective in preventing and combating trade fraud, especially preventing and combating the trafficking of banned substances.

As a difficult and dangerous area, it is easy for hostile forces to take advantage of it to organize disruptive activities, disrupting security and order and political stability in the area. The President reminded the Border Guard force to heighten vigilance, grasp the situation, and promptly and effectively fight and prevent it, early and from afar. Along with that, it is necessary to perform foreign affairs tasks well and coordinate well with the Border Guard force of neighboring countries in carrying out their tasks.

The President also asked the commanders of Nghe An Border Guard and Thanh Thuy Border Gate Border Guard Station to take care of soldiers on duty during Tet, ensuring both high combat readiness and a warm and emotional Tet holiday.
