The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention (DDMA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has just inspected the response and recovery work of natural disasters in Quang Ngai province.
In Binh Minh commune, early in the morning of November 2, due to prolonged heavy rain, rising floodwaters caused the Cay Sung Bridge in Binh Minh commune (formerly Binh Khuong commune) to collapse. At the time of inspection, local forces had stretched ropes, warned of dangerous areas, and stretched ropes to be able to support people in the isolated area.
Mr. Pham Quang Su, Chairman of Binh Minh Commune People's Committee, said that currently, the commune has 316 isolated households with 1,280 people. In the next 2 days, people can ensure food supply. However, if the situation persists and circulation cannot be ensured, the authorities will deploy the plans that have been developed to ensure food supply for the people.
Directing at the scene, Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Flood and Storm Prevention Nguyen Van Tien requested the locality to review the separated households, grasp information about the elderly, the disabled, pregnant women and women with young children, so that when necessary situations arise, they can handle them quickly and ensure safety. At the same time, continue to deploy the work of handling and overcoming incidents to connect traffic and provide food to people in a timely manner.
Next, the delegation inspected the incident at Nam Binh Thuong reservoir in Nam Binh 1 village, Binh Son commune. Here, more than 30m of the dam body was seriously eroded after days of prolonged heavy rain. In the face of the emergency, on the morning of November 1, the People's Committee of Binh Son commune urgently mobilized forces to gather 2,000 sandbags and wooden stakes to reinforce the dam body. By the afternoon of November 1, the location of the dam body landslide had been basically temporarily stabilized, ensuring safety for people in the downstream area and restoring water storage for production.
The lake has a capacity of 30,000m3, built in 1979, downstream has more than 600 households/2,000 people.

At the scene, Mr. Dang Tran Huan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province, reported on the situation of the incident and the first hour of handling. In the immediate future, the safety of households in the downstream area will be ensured and water storage will be carried out to serve agricultural production in the coming time, especially the winter-spring crop.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tien directed the locality to continue monitoring the incident to promptly respond when a situation occurs, and at the same time directed the locality to consider and declare a state of emergency regarding the incident, arrange funds to handle the incident, ensure safety for people and water storage.
