The Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission's working delegation surveyed Vung Ang Economic Zone

On the morning of November 4, a working delegation of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission led by Phan Viet Phong, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, surveyed environmental protection work at the Vung Ang Economic Zone.

The working delegation listened to Formosa Ha Tinh Company report on environmental protection work.

The delegation visited and surveyed the environmental protection work at Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation. Along with production and business, Formosa Ha Tinh has prioritized resources to invest synchronously in environmental protection work. The company has installed a system to treat exhaust gas, wastewater, and all kinds of waste with modern, environmentally friendly technology.

To control the quality of exhaust gas and wastewater before discharging into the environment, Formosa Ha Tinh also installed and operated 26 automatic and continuous monitoring stations, including 4 monitoring stations to monitor 11-15 parameters of wastewater and 22 monitoring stations (20 stations at 20 chimneys, 2 stations at 2 dry coke ovens) to monitor 6-8 parameters of exhaust gas.

These automatic, continuous monitoring stations are connected and transmit data directly to the system of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh) for monitoring, management and supervision. In particular, Formosa Ha Tinh also focuses on greening the environment by planting hundreds of hectares of trees, creating a diverse ecosystem, contributing to creating a clean and friendly environment.

Next, the delegation visited the VinFast Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Plant. The factory, located in Vung Ang Economic Zone, is one of the leading advanced electric vehicle manufacturing facilities in Vietnam and the region. After nearly 7 months of construction, on June 29, the factory was inaugurated and put into operation. The factory is invested in a synchronous system of highly automated production lines, applying technology from global partners such as ABB, DÜRR, FANUC, SIEMENS... The entire production process is operated according to strict international standards: ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and IATF 16949 (global automotive industry standards).

After listening to the enterprises' reports on the production and business situation as well as environmental protection work during the production and business process, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Phan Viet Phong highly appreciated the efforts of the enterprises in investing in science and technology in production and business as well as in the treatment of waste, wastewater and emissions to ensure environmental standards.

The Director of the Department of Science and Technology requested that enterprises continue to strictly comply with regulations on environmental protection, increase resources to invest in equipment to effectively treat wastewater, emissions and waste, ensuring a sustainable business environment. At the same time, he requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and relevant departments and branches to strengthen propaganda work, guide enterprises to effectively implement environmental protection solutions in the production and business process; closely monitor the level of environmental impact from enterprises to promptly warn and correct.
