Quang Ninh: Sea and island tourism routes attract international tourists

According to the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, in the first 4 months of 2025, the province welcomed nearly 7.6 million visitors, an increase of 7% over the same period in 2024.

Of which, international visitors are estimated at 1.57 million; overnight visitors are estimated at 1.9 million, total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 18,310 billion, up 26% over the same period in 2024.

In April alone, Quang Ninh province is estimated to welcome 1.9 million visitors, of which international visitors reached 390,000, with total revenue estimated at VND5,130 billion.

In particular, although the summer tourist season has just begun, the province's island tourism routes have recorded a surge in international visitors.

Specifically, Ha Long Bay welcomed over 1.1 million visitors in the first 4 months of 2025, including about 900,000 international visitors.

There are about 500 quality ships operating in Ha Long Bay, including many newly built steel-hulled ships, yachts, super yachts, and restaurant ships, offering diverse and classy options for tourists.

Van Don district also recorded a high increase in international visitors. During the April 30-May 1 holiday alone, there were about 2,000 international visitors to Van Don.

The tourism infrastructure system is continuously upgraded, especially the smooth connecting traffic routes such as Van Don-Mong Cai Expressway, Van Don International Airport, Ao Tien International Port... creating maximum convenience for the travel of tourists, especially foreign tourists.

In addition, communication work is deployed synchronously, focusing on social networking platforms, official information pages of the province, district, etc., contributing to creating a strong effect, attracting attention from the domestic and foreign tourism community.

In Co To district, the peak of the summer tourist season has welcomed a large number of international tourists. It is estimated that since the beginning of the year, the district has welcomed about 1,200 visitors. Tourists prioritize participating and experiencing being fishermen with local people in the "a day as a fisherman" tours.

In addition, many cultural and artistic activities organized by localities in the district attracted tens of thousands of participants, creating an unprecedentedly vibrant and impressive festival atmosphere.

In 2025, tourist routes such as Co To Con Island and Thanh Lan Island will be reopened, opening up more experiences to explore the pristine islands for tourists. Many tourism services such as coral diving, fishing village tours, kayaking, eco-tourism, etc. will be effectively exploited, enriching the itinerary and enhancing the experience of tourists.

Particularly at Ao Tien International Port, the number of international visitors to Van Don and Co To islands since the beginning of the year has been recorded to have increased 4-5 times compared to the same period in 2024.

To continue to exploit the full potential of sea and island tourism, attracting a large number of tourists, especially foreign tourists, Quang Ninh province has developed plans to invest in and upgrade facilities at ports, moorings, and wharves; and improve technical and safety conditions at ports.

Along with that, the top priority is to develop safe sea and island tourism products, protect the ecological environment and landscape. At the same time, link the development of sea and island tourism between tourism businesses and the fisheries, aquaculture and offshore fishing, maritime traffic, maritime transport and maritime services.

Localities such as Van Don and Co To also aim to develop sea and island tourism in depth, exploiting resort, entertainment, discovery and sports services on the sea, under the sea and on remote islands; exploiting the potential and advantages of the sea... along with honoring the culture of the sea and islands, maximizing the participation of local communities in sea and island tourism activities, creating livelihood activities and income for people.

In the second quarter of 2025, the tourism industry of Quang Ninh province aims to welcome 5.3 million visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 14,720 billion VND.

To attract tourists during this peak season, the tourism industry organizes 55 programs and events, including 25 programs, events and activities to stimulate international, national and provincial tourism./.
