Quang Tri: Consecutive discovery of 3 cases of smuggling goods worth nearly 1 billion VND

On June 5, the Economic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police, announced that it had just discovered and arrested 3 cases of transporting large quantities of banned and smuggled goods, with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND.

At around 8:10 p.m. on June 4, at Km9, the intersection between Cam Lo-La Son Expressway and National Highway 9 in Nam Hieu village, Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, the authorities inspected a car with license plate 29D-234.20 and discovered nearly 100 bottles of foreign wine and 6,000 packs of cigarettes, estimated to be worth about 450 million VND. The driver fled the scene.

At the same time, at Km10, National Highway 9, in Vinh An village, Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, the working group of the Economic Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police coordinated with other units to inspect a car with license plate 74D-002.01 driven by Tran Dang Khoa, born in 1998, residing in Quarter 7, Ward 5, Dong Ha city. Thereby, it was discovered that the car was carrying more than 100 bottles of foreign wine, 1,500 packs of foreign cigarettes..., worth about 200 million VND.

Then, at around 8:30 p.m., the authorities continued to inspect and discovered that the car with license plate 43D-007.39 driven by Dieu Duc Trung, born in 1991, residing in Quarter 7, Ward 5, Dong Ha City, and Tran Dinh Phi, born in 1995, residing in Quarter 10, Ward 5, Dong Ha City, were transporting 60 bottles of foreign wine, 4,000 bottles of beer and 3,000 packs of foreign cigarettes, worth about 250 million VND.

Through initial verification, these goods were all prohibited and smuggled goods, without invoices or documents proving their origin, and were transported from Lao Bao to Dong Ha by the subjects when they were discovered and arrested.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Tri Province Police has decided to temporarily detain 3 related subjects for further investigation and handling.
