Quang Tri reviews progress of converting public service units into joint stock companies

(PLVN) - On May 16, Mr. Le Duc Tien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, Head of the Steering Committee for the conversion of public service units into provincial joint stock companies - chaired a meeting to review the progress of converting public service units into joint stock companies. This is an activity within the plan to restructure and rearrange public service units according to the general policy.

Up to now, 6 units have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee for labor arrangement plans, including: Trieu Phong District Environmental and Urban Center, Hai Lang District Environmental and Urban Center, Vinh Linh District Environmental - Urban Works Center, Driver Training and Testing Center, Gio Linh District Environmental and Urban Center, Bus Station Management Center; in which, the Driver Training and Testing Center has completed determining the value of public service units and the value of state capital at the unit.

For the Bus Station Management Center, the entire area of the bus station is within the land acquisition area to build the Coastal Road connecting the East-West Economic Corridor and the Provincial People's Committee agreed to build a new bus station at the intersection between Thuan Chau Street and the Eastern bypass of Dong Ha City, therefore, the value of the converted unit has not been determined.

Units in the Environment and Urban sector have unchanged prices for waste collection, transportation and treatment in the province and increasing operating costs, therefore, facing many difficulties in operating revenue, especially in rural areas.

At the meeting, some units proposed to adjust the progress. The Provincial Driver Training and Testing Center proposed to speed up the procedures to complete the conversion in August 2025. Meanwhile, the Provincial Bus Station Management Center proposed to suspend or extend the implementation time. As for the four urban environmental units at the district level, the Department of Finance proposed to submit to the Prime Minister to suspend the conversion due to many objective factors.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien agreed with the above recommendations and requested relevant departments and branches to continue researching and proposing plans to organize environmental centers in the direction of clusters and inter-commune regions. At the same time, build service price levels that are appropriate to reality, ensuring to serve people's needs and keep up with social development trends.
