On August 1, Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong Commune ( Quang Ngai Province) said that he had requested the road management unit to mobilize vehicles to transport graded stone to temporarily fix the subsidence on National Highway 40B, ensuring traffic safety on the route.

National Highway 40B connects Tu Mo Rong and Mang Ri communes (Quang Ngai province) to Da Nang city.
This is a vital traffic route. Recently, heavy rains have caused many sections of the road through Tu Mo Rong commune to sink and crack, making travel difficult.

Due to the impact of storms and rain, over the past week, the location Km 168+900 (on National Highway 40B) has collapsed.
In the past 2 days, this subsidence point suddenly subsided more severely. The length of the road that has subsided is over 20m. The road surface has sunk 0.6m to 1m deep.
Near the subsidence location, a "death" hole appeared with a diameter of 1m and a depth of over 1.2m.

The location of the subsidence and the appearance of the "death" hole has threatened the lives of traffic participants, especially at night.
On the morning of August 1, actual records showed that the subsidence had a huge impact on the transportation of goods and traffic. In the subsidence area, travel was difficult.

Mr. Tran Quoc Huy said that to ensure safety for traffic participants, the commune government has coordinated to put up warning signs in the subsidence area, to remind people to be vigilant.
The commune also requested the road management unit to urgently mobilize forces and means to fix the problem.
According to Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, the sunken area has underground water flowing through it, if the heavy rain continues, the risk of the road being cut off and traffic is very high. Therefore, the commune has proposed installing a large drainage system to thoroughly handle this situation.
