According to statistics from the People's Committee of Quang Truc commune, there are about 600 hectares of macadamia in the area. Most people in Quang Truc grow macadamia. 1 hectare of macadamia brings in an annual income of about 90 - 120 million VND.
Mr. Doan Le Anh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Quang Truc commune, said that income from macadamia is changing the lives of local people, especially in M'nong villages.
Macadamia is a crop suitable for the micro-climate, soil, and farming practices of the people here. Macadamia helps people escape poverty, even become rich.
According to Mr. Kieu Qui Dien, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuy Duc district, based on the climate and soil sub-regions, Tuy Duc has formed large-scale agricultural production areas.
Specifically, the cashew production area is 9,780 hectares in Dak Ngo and Quang Tan communes; the coffee production area is 12,300 hectares in Quang Tan, Dak R'tih and Dak Buk So communes; the pepper production area is 1,800 hectares in Quang Tan, Quang Tam and Dak Buk So communes; the macadamia production area is 1,420 hectares in Quang Truc, Quang Tam and Dak Buk So communes; the green vegetable production area is 250 hectares in Dak Buk So and Quang Tam communes...
Mr. Dien said that before orienting crops and growing areas, the district had made assessments of suitable climate and sub-regions through experimental models and effective crops.
The district's Department of Agriculture has monitored for many years and based on the development capacity, productivity, pests and diseases... of each crop to evaluate and make decisions.
Tuy Duc has nearly 62,000 hectares of agricultural land. In recent years, the district has focused on restructuring agriculture, rearranging production towards sustainability, adapting to climate change , and promoting the advantages of each region and locality .
In addition to forming raw material areas, the district is supporting people and cooperatives to produce according to clean and safe agricultural processes to connect with consumption. The district has nearly 1,500 hectares of crops applying certified agricultural production processes (VietGAP, organic, 4C...).
Forming raw material areas is the basis for the district to mobilize, call for investment, attract resources to support processing facilities, limit raw sales, and increase the value of agricultural products. Up to now, the district has 36 facilities operating in the field of agricultural product processing, creating 5 products meeting 3-star OCOP standards.
Mr. Tran Vinh Phu, Vice Chairman of Tuy Duc District People's Committee, said that the formation of concentrated raw material areas is creating favorable conditions for farmers and cooperatives to connect with large customers to consume products.
"The ultimate goal of creating a strong crop area is to increase people's income and living standards. Through this method, it helps people and the agricultural sector stabilize crops and avoid chasing market prices. At the same time, it helps farmers gradually stabilize production when they find suitable crops with high income," Mr. Phu emphasized.
