Launching the exhibition space of Le Ba Dang's art collection

(CLO) The Le Ba Dang art collection space at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum displays 38 artifacts and 113 documents with rich content, covering the artist's creative stages.

On the afternoon of November 1, Da Nang Fine Arts Museum held a ceremony to announce the exhibition space "Le Ba Dang Art Collection".

This is an art collection donated by Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen - Thuy Khue to the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, safely transported from France to Da Nang in November 2023.

The Le Ba Dang art collection space at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum displays 38 artifacts and 113 documents. These are paintings, statues, carpets, books, documents, and tools made from various materials with rich themes and content about the natural beauty, people, and culture of Vietnam, covering the artist's creative stages.

Mr. and Mrs. Le Tat Luyen - Thuy Khue are two Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in France. They preserve many works of art by the world famous painter Le Ba Dang and donated a collection of 253 artifacts to the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum in July 2023.

Among them, there are 131 artworks by painter Le Ba Dang and 16 stone sculptures, 19 zinc prints, 71 molds, and 16 of his manufacturing tools.

After receiving the artifacts and completing the scientific records for each artifact in the collection, Da Nang Fine Arts Museum renovated and adjusted part of the thematic exhibition space on the 3rd floor into the exhibition space "Le Ba Dang Art Collection".

Painter Le Ba Dang was born in 1922, is a famous Vietnamese artist living in France, from Quang Tri province. He studied at the School of Fine Arts (Ecole des Beaux-Arts) in Toulouse, France. Throughout his artistic life, he left behind a huge body of work.

Le Ba Dang is known to the world for many prestigious art awards, being awarded the "Artist with Talent and Humanitarian Thought" by the US in 1989; being voted "Global Celebrity" by the UK in 1992; being awarded the "French Arts and Culture" Medal by France in 1994.

In 2005, painter Le Ba Dang was awarded the “Resistance War Against America for National Salvation” Medal by the State and many other noble awards. Since 2002, he has frequently returned to Vietnam and established the Le Ba Dang Center in Hue in 2006. He passed away on March 7, 2015 in Paris.
