Going swimming, 2 young men were swept away by waves and went missing

On the evening of October 24, Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Tho Commune, Dak Lak Province, said that the locality is currently coordinating with functional forces to search for two young men who went swimming in the Xuan Dai Ward area and were swept away by waves and went missing.

According to initial information, at about 4:55 p.m. the same day, Nguyen Huu Danh, Vo Thanh Kiet (born in 2006), Nguyen Huu Thuy, Vuong Ngoc Tien, Nguyen Huu Dat (born in 2008, all residing in Trieu Son village, Xuan Tho commune, Dak Lak province) invited each other to the sea area near Hong Duc raft, in An Thanh quarter, Xuan Dai ward to swim. Due to the big waves and strong winds at the time, Nguyen Huu Thuy and Nguyen Huu Dat were swept away by the waves and went missing.

Upon receiving the news, the functional forces of Xuan Tho commune coordinated with Xuan Dai Border Guard Station and local people to search for the victims. However, by 7 p.m. the same day, the two victims had still not been found.

Many people and authorities are still searching for the two victims.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh, both young men Nguyen Xuan Thuy and Nguyen Huu Dat have dropped out of school. "Currently, the sea in Xuan Dai Bay is rough and the sea is very rough, and because it is dark, the rescue work is quite difficult. We are still concentrating our forces to search for the victims as soon as possible," Mr. Thanh informed.
