Continuous rain, "water-saturated" land will increase landslides

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Director of Hue City Hydrometeorological Station, said: Heavy rains lasting for many days have caused soil moisture in some areas of Hue City to be nearly saturated (over 85%) or reach a saturated state, even reaching 100% in some places, meaning the soil is no longer able to absorb more water. When the soil is "full of water", the risk of deep flooding and landslides increases.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, there will continue to be rain in Hue City. From now until the end of October 2025, rain and floods will continue to have complex and unpredictable developments. There is a high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams in mountainous areas; landslides on steep slopes, and land subsidence in communes and wards of Hue City.

In low-lying areas such as Dan Dien, Quang Dien, Hoa Chau, An Cuu, Phu Loc, etc., floodwaters have receded slowly, affecting people’s lives. Local authorities have continued to support the people.
