More than 136,000 cases were fined by Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police: What were those violations?

Recently, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department (PC08, Ho Chi Minh City Police) said that more than 136,000 cases were fined by Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police in the first 10 months of the year.

Accordingly, in the first 10 months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police detected and handled more than 837,000 violations. Of these, nearly 701,000 cases were detected and recorded directly by Traffic Police; more than 136,000 cases were fined offline.

These cases of fines are extracted from images recorded by traffic police using professional equipment, surveillance camera systems or people's reports. Traffic police also send violation notices to all of the above cases. This number increased by more than 42,000 cases compared to the same period in 2024.

According to the reporter's investigation, the most common violations that traffic police fine are: stopping and parking in the wrong place, speeding, not obeying traffic signals, driving in the wrong lane, entering a prohibited road...

"The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police are increasing the deployment of forces using technical equipment and surveillance systems to detect and record violations by people and vehicles. Thereby, the Traffic Police are gradually converting the method of public patrolling by human force to modern patrolling and surveillance based on the camera surveillance system," emphasized Senior Colonel Nam.

Traffic police also detained more than 1,200 cars, more than 203,000 motorbikes and more than 4,000 3- and 4-wheel vehicles. To date, more than 481,000 cases have been fined with a total amount of more than 1,098 billion VND.

6 violations that traffic police severely punish

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Nam said that Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police will focus on handling 6 groups of errors that are the main causes of traffic accidents, including:

Violation of alcohol and drug concentrations;
Violation of vehicle body extension, overloading, and oversized cargo;
Violating speed, not obeying traffic lights, driving in the wrong lane, going the wrong way...;
Drive in a group, weave and zigzag;
Transport business drivers using phones or other electronic devices while driving;
Students violate traffic order and safety;

Deputy Head of PC08 said that traffic police handle cases in the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions, no intervention, no days off" to create positive changes in awareness and consciousness of law compliance.

In addition to the above 6 thematic groups, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police continue to call on people to strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety when participating in traffic. Traffic Police also call on people to join hands in detecting and providing images and clips of violating vehicles for the Traffic Police to handle.

The leader of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police also said that in the first 10 months of the year, there were 1,716 traffic accidents in Ho Chi Minh City, killing 843 people and injuring 1,014 people. Compared to the same period, there were 626 fewer traffic accidents (down 27%), 68 fewer deaths (down 7%) and 534 fewer injuries (down 34%).
