Recently, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department (PC08, Ho Chi Minh City Police), stated that over 136,000 cases of traffic violations were fined by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police in the first 10 months of the year.
Accordingly, in the first 10 months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police detected and handled more than 837,000 violations. Of these, nearly 701,000 cases were detected and recorded directly by Traffic Police; more than 136,000 cases were fined offline.
AI cameras are detecting traffic violations and issuing fines at 31 intersections, with plans to expand this network in the near future.

These cases of fines are extracted from images recorded by traffic police using professional equipment, surveillance camera systems or people's reports. Traffic police also send violation notices to all of the above cases. This number increased by more than 42,000 cases compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the reporter's investigation, the most common violations that traffic police fine are: stopping and parking in the wrong place, speeding, not obeying traffic signals, driving in the wrong lane, entering a prohibited road...
"The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police are increasing the deployment of personnel using technical equipment and surveillance systems to detect and record violations by people and vehicles. Through this, the Traffic Police are gradually shifting from overt patrols using human resources to modern patrols and surveillance based on a camera surveillance system," Lieutenant Colonel Nam emphasized.

Traffic police also detained more than 1,200 cars, more than 203,000 motorbikes and more than 4,000 3- and 4-wheel vehicles. To date, more than 481,000 cases have been fined with a total amount of more than 1,098 billion VND.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Nam said that Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police will focus on handling 6 groups of errors that are the main causes of traffic accidents, including:
- Violation of alcohol and drug concentrations;
- Violation of vehicle body extension, overloading, and oversized cargo;
- Speeding violations, failing to obey traffic signals, driving in the wrong lane, driving against the flow of traffic, etc.;
- Driving in a convoy, swerving, and weaving through traffic;
- Drivers engaged in commercial transport using mobile phones or other electronic devices while driving;
- Students violate traffic order and safety;

The Deputy Head of PC08 stated that traffic police are enforcing the principle of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions, no interference, and no days off" to create positive changes in awareness and compliance with the law.
In addition to the six thematic groups mentioned above, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police continue to urge citizens to strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety when participating in traffic. The Traffic Police also call on citizens to cooperate in detecting and providing images and videos of violating vehicles so that the Traffic Police can take action.
The head of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police also stated that in the first 10 months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City experienced 1,716 traffic accidents, resulting in 843 deaths and 1,014 injuries. Compared to the same period last year, there was a decrease of 626 traffic accidents (27%), 68 deaths (7%), and 534 injuries (34%).
