The Vietnam Mathematical Festival (VNMF) is an activity under the national key program for the development of mathematics in the period 2021-2030 (Mathematics Program) of the Ministry of Education and Training, organized by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics - the permanent coordinating unit for the implementation of the Mathematics Program.

VNMF is a nationwide academic platform for students from grades 1 to 12, organized to fulfill the mission of "Supporting the implementation of the 2018 general education mathematics curriculum" and "Supporting the training of talents and improving the quality of human resources in the mathematics field" of the Mathematics Program.

VNMF was established with the mission of creating a positive, creative, and highly community-oriented space for learning mathematics. This is not just an educational activity, but also a movement to spread a love of mathematics to students of all backgrounds, from urban to rural areas, from mountainous regions to islands, so that any student can participate, from gifted students to those who are not yet confident in mathematics.

Simultaneously, the program aims to foster a love and interest in mathematics through gamified competition formats that combine creative activities and encourage exploration rather than focusing on grades; to help students develop logical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity in mathematics, allowing each student to explore mathematics in their own way; to provide access to modern educational technology, hone digital skills, and promote self-learning through tests on the VNMF platform; and to identify and nurture mathematically gifted students from an early age, creating a pool of students for national and international mathematics competitions.

Within the framework of the event, the seminar "Innovating the Culture of Teaching and Learning Mathematics" featured experts in the field of Mathematics such as: Prof. Dr. Ngo Bao Chau, University of Chicago & Scientific Director of VIASM; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Luong, former Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ton Than, former Head of the Mathematics and Informatics Department, Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences.

The seminar provides a platform for educators, experts, and mathematics researchers to discuss new trends in teaching and learning mathematics, the roles of teachers and students in the modern classroom, and the potential applications of technology and artificial intelligence to personalize each learner's mathematics journey. It's an opportunity for the Vietnamese teaching and student community to deeply reflect on the "culture of teaching and learning mathematics," a concept often undervalued but profoundly influencing how students approach the subject.
