A humanoid robot built by Shanghai-based Agibot has officially set a new Guinness World Record by completing a 106-km journey between two cities in eastern China without any shutdowns.
The A2 robot departed from Suzhou on the night of November 10 and arrived at The Bund in Shanghai in the early morning of November 13. Thanks to a high-speed hot-swappable battery system developed by Agibot, A2 maintained a continuous operating state throughout the journey, completing a total of 106,286 km – a figure confirmed by Guinness on November 21.
“Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is a difficult challenge even for many people, but the robot did it,” said Wang Shuang, senior vice president of Agibot. “This achievement proves the maturity of the hardware, the balancing algorithm and the durability of the operation, laying an important foundation for large-scale commercial deployment.”
A2 is equipped with a powerful sensor system including dual GPS, LiDAR and infrared depth sensor, providing stable orientation day and night. The robot can handle many complex situations such as traffic lights, narrow paths, crowded sidewalks, as well as move across asphalt, brick roads, bridges, slopes and other surfaces, while complying with traffic rules.
Upon arriving at its destination and speaking to reporters, the robot described the journey as an “unforgettable experience in its life,” while jokingly saying that it “may need new shoes.”
Previously in April, the Tien Kung Ultra robot model created by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center also attracted attention when it completed a 21 km half marathon in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
