Ronaldo accused of lying

Former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison believes Cristiano Ronaldo was insincere when he said he was no longer interested in winning the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking on November 10, Morrison shared: “I don’t believe Ronaldo is that indifferent. He always wants to win every title possible – that’s why Ronaldo and Messi are always competing and considered the two GOATs (Greatest Player of All Time) of football today. Ronaldo wants to be the best, just like Messi. No one in this generation can replicate what they have done.”

Morrison believes that although Ronaldo is trying to appear relaxed, deep down he is definitely still craving for the World Cup – the only title missing from CR7's massive collection.

“Who didn’t grow up dreaming of winning the World Cup? Everyone did it while watching TV. Ronaldo may be joking, but if he wins it, his career will be complete,” Morrison added.

Ronaldo won Euro 2016 and the 2019 Nations League with Portugal, along with a host of club titles with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and now Al Nassr. However, the World Cup trophy remains the missing piece in his illustrious career – something Lionel Messi achieved with Argentina in 2022.

Last week, Ronaldo insisted that the World Cup was no longer a dream for him. At 40, the Portuguese superstar has maintained his incredible form: 143 goals in 225 games for his country, and is closing in on 1,000 career goals.

Ronaldo's son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr's unbelievable tackle caused a stir on social media with his handling like a real center back in the latest match of the Al Nassr youth team.
