On the afternoon of November 13, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong chaired a working session with the Vietnam Sports Administration to review preparations for the 33rd SEA Games. Also attending were Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Sports Administration, leaders of departments and head coaches of national teams.
According to the report of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnamese sports delegation is expected to participate in 47 sports, with the goal of winning about 100 gold medals. To prepare for the Games, the Department of Sports and Physical Training has closely coordinated with training centers and sports units across the country, organizing more than 1,800 training sessions for athletes. The food allowance for athletes on the official competition list has also been increased to 480,000 VND/day to ensure the best nutrition and physical strength.
At the meeting, coaches and department heads reported on training conditions and specific targets. Teams are accelerating in the sprint phase, maintaining the intensity of two training sessions per day, even practicing on days off. Many key sports showed positive signs.
The athletics team aims to win 12 gold medals or more. The young athletes in the 100m and 4x100m relay events are expected to make a breakthrough after two years of systematic training. The young athletes are in the pre-competition stage, have good spirit and are considered capable of competing for medals.
In the shooting category, preparations have also been completed. In order to ensure the best training conditions, the Department of Sports and Physical Training has coordinated with units such as the Army and the Police to provide equipment, ammunition and guns (each key athlete is equipped with 3 guns). Veteran shooters such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, and Pham Quang Huy continue to be the gold medal hopes, with the target of winning at least 7 gold medals.
In his directive speech, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized that there is not much time left until the 33rd SEA Games, so the departments need to urgently review professional work, nutrition and health . The Deputy Minister requested the coaching staff to specifically disseminate the plan to each athlete, implement it scientifically and ensure the highest efficiency.
In addition, the Deputy Minister noted that the health care, accommodation and living conditions of athletes must be given top priority, helping them feel comfortable before entering the competition. "The departments must create conditions for athletes to compete with the best spirit, without creating pressure for results, but still maintaining high determination," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
