In the area of Co To Con island, Dong Tien commune, Co To district, Quang Ninh , people discovered a rare sea turtle surfacing. Accordingly, the turtle weighed about 20kg, first appeared at about 12:30.
Being the first person to discover the turtle while sailing with a group of friends to the East beach (on Co To Con island), Mr. Ngo Gia Manh (20 years old, a resident of Dong Tien commune) recorded the image of the turtle and posted it on social networks. These images received the attention of the online community.

This is the first time sea turtles have reappeared in more than 10 years since Co To island district released a 125kg turtle back into the sea.
Previously, in November 2022, in the area near the Port Bridge (Nam Hai beach, zone 4, Co To town), dolphins also appeared swimming for many hours.

The presence of sea turtles and dolphins in this sea area shows that the ecosystem and marine environment here are getting better and better. This achievement is due to the fact that in the past 2 years, the locality has stepped up efforts to clean up the marine environment with the determination to build the image of a northeastern outpost island district without plastic waste.
Mr. Ha Manh Hung - Head of the Department of Natural Resources, Environment and Agriculture of Co To district said that environmental protection work is of special interest to the government as well as the people living on Co To island with many activities of cleaning the sea, collecting foam buoys, mobilizing people and tourists not to use plastic bags...
With its high biodiversity, Co To and Tran islands are one of 16 national marine protected areas approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 742/QD-TTg dated May 26, 2010. The Provincial People's Committee has also approved the Project to establish Co To and Tran islands marine protected areas to preserve unique marine ecosystems and rare marine species with a total area of over 18,400 hectares, including a protected area of over 13,230 hectares and a buffer zone of over 5,184 hectares.
