Colorful culture of Ban flower festival in Son La city

First held in 2008, through 5 festival seasons, the Ban Flower Festival has become a spiritual cultural feature of the ethnic people of Son La city, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, encouraging all classes of people to enthusiastically compete and work in production.

From early morning, the sound of drums and gongs has been bustling, inviting people and tourists to join in the fun, joining hands in the solidarity dance.

Coming to this year's Festival, 12 communes and wards in the city brought 12 colorful cultural spaces, cleverly designed and decorated from familiar, natural materials, bearing the typical features of ethnic minorities.

At the Cultural Camps, traditional costumes, cuisine , musical instruments were displayed and introduced; agricultural products, handicrafts, labor tools, and typical production of each ethnic group and locality were promoted.

On the main stage of the Northwest Square, each commune and ward brings creative and attractive xoe dances, creating a vivid cultural picture in the life of the Thai ethnic people.

In the Ban Flower Beauty section, 24 contestants from 12 communes and wards performed in original and modernized Thai ethnic costumes, leaving a special impression on the audience.

The live performance of beautiful Bauhinia flowers on the hill of Bauhinia flowers blooming with pure white color is a new and attractive content in this year's festival.

Along with that, this year's scarf competition also took place right at the Ban flower hill.

Also on March 12, at the camps, a unique ethnic culinary competition took place, with typical dishes such as: Five-color sticky rice, bamboo rice, pa pinh top, grilled chicken, bon soup, ban flower salad...

Under the skillful hands of the cook, along with the traditional spices of the people, dishes with full color - flavor - taste, and unique mark of the Northwest region have been created.

Each meal tray is also presented by the teams with an impressive theme such as: The solidarity meal tray of Quyet Tam ward; the reunion meal tray of Chieng Ngan commune; the meal tray where the people gather and unite in Chieng Le ward...

Son La City – A gathering place for 12 ethnic groups living together. Each ethnic group has its own unique cultural characteristics, creating a unique, rich and extremely valuable cultural treasure for the city.

The Ban Flower Season Festival shows the people's respect and gratitude to remember the great contributions of the Gods and pray for national peace and prosperity, a prosperous village, favorable weather all year round, and bountiful crops; arousing national solidarity and love for the homeland.
