New book: Quang Duc Ceramics, Phu Yen

Journalist and screenwriter Tran Thanh Hung has just released his research work on Quang Duc pottery in Phu Yen (Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House). The book, over 100 pages long and measuring 14.5x20.5cm, consists of three chapters: An Overview of Ceramics, Quang Duc Pottery Making, and Typical Cultural Heritage of Phu Yen. Chapter II highlights the uniqueness of Quang Duc pottery, from the village's setting and raw materials to glazes, clay preparation, and shaping techniques.

The appendix contains many in-depth articles on ceramics in general, and Quang Duc ceramics in particular: A ceramic flow in the South Central region (Dr. Tran Duc Anh Son, former Director of the Hue Imperial Fine Arts Museum), The ceramic road on the East Sea (journalist - screenwriter Tran Thanh Hung), Terracotta sculptures discovered in Phu Yen (Dr. Le Dinh Phung, Institute of Archaeology), Determining the age of ancient artifacts using thermoluminescence (MSc. Huynh Ky Hanh, Institute of Physics Engineering in Nha Trang), Searching for ancient pottery kilns (researcher, artist Nguyen Thuong Hy)... At the end of the book there is a QR code; readers can use their phone's camera to scan it to watch the "Discover Vietnam" program produced by VTV, broadcast on July 29, 2023, on the topic: The uniqueness of Quang Duc ceramics.

According to journalist and screenwriter Tran Thanh Hung, the book "Quang Duc Pottery of Phu Yen" was created with the hope of continuing to help collectors and researchers of ceramics both domestically and internationally gain more information about pottery styles in the South Central region, including the now-lost Quang Duc pottery style - a typical cultural heritage of Phu Yen province.

This is the third book by journalist and screenwriter Tran Thanh Hung, and his second book on ceramics, following "Central Vietnamese Ceramics ," co-authored with researcher Nguyen Dinh Chuc, published in 2021, which won second prize B from the Vietnam Folk Arts Association (no first prize awarded).

Journalist and screenwriter Tran Thanh Hung, born in 1969 in An Nghiep commune, Tuy An district, is a member of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Vietnam Film Association, and the Vietnam Folk Arts Association. A skilled and passionate journalist, screenwriter, and director, he has received numerous gold and silver medals and commendations from national television festivals, military television festivals, international sports film and television festivals, and national environmental film festivals. He has also won many high awards in scriptwriting competitions organized by the Vietnam Film Department, awards from the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Phu Yen Provincial Literature and Arts Association, and national journalism awards.

Journalist and screenwriter Tran Thanh Hung previously held positions as Deputy Director of VTV Phu Yen, Deputy Director of VTV Nha Trang, Director of the Department of Information and Communications, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, and is currently the Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.
