The South Korean company said it is working with Google and Qualcomm to develop XR technology, which combines the real and virtual worlds . Android XR will integrate the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem, Google software, and Qualcomm hardware technology. According to Samsung, this collaboration will bring a conversational user interface (UI), allowing users to interact with voice and natural conversation, enhancing the user experience.
Galaxy XR is the first device to run Android XR
Samsung's first XR glasses, codenamed Project Moohan, will be the first device to run on the Android XR platform. The name "Moohan" means "infinity" in Korean, reflecting Samsung's ambition to provide limitless experiences in the areas of entertainment, productivity, and health. While there has been much speculation about Samsung developing XR glasses, Qualcomm's CEO has suggested that the device could be smart glasses, but images from Samsung suggest that this is unlikely.
The exact launch date of the Galaxy XR glasses has not been announced yet, but sources say that this product could be introduced in the third quarter of 2025. Samsung confirmed that they are working closely with Qualcomm and Google to bring the best experience to users, allowing them to explore the world through Google Maps, enjoy content on YouTube, or plan trips with Gemini AI - all in a virtual space provided by the Galaxy XR.
