After testing the secondary field, the main My Dinh stadium will be "given a new look"
In mid-November, groups of workers began planting grass at My Dinh secondary stadium. This is an important step in the overall upgrade plan of the complex's field system, before moving on to the renovation and replacement phase of the main field.
The remarkable point of the new grass lies in its outstanding construction and recovery ability. With each cultural and sports event taking place on the field, the grass layer can be peeled off, re-constructed and after only about a week it will be ready to return to a lush green grass surface, ensuring the standards for football matches.

In parallel with the replanting process, the replacement of the main field foundation is being urgently implemented. According to the plan, this work will be completed before the next capital disbursement in early 2026. When completed, My Dinh Stadium will be covered with a new layer of grass with better resistance, adapting to the hot and humid summer weather and the cold winter weather typical of the North.
Not only is it more durable, the new grass also allows for partial replacement of damaged areas, rather than having to redo the entire lawn as before. This significantly reduces maintenance costs and shortens the time it takes to restore the field after each event.

After testing on the secondary field, the main My Dinh field will be planted with new grass.
My Dinh on the journey to regain its position as a national event center
The “new look” for My Dinh is not only to improve the quality of competition but also to open up a more flexible exploitation direction, meeting the parallel needs of organizing sports programs and cultural performances. Thereby, the national stadium has the opportunity to regain its position as a leading event center in the country.

The new grass on the secondary field of My Dinh Stadium is planted in patches that can be easily peeled off.
According to the plan, the entire My Dinh Stadium renovation project has a total budget of about 10 billion VND from the state budget, divided into two phases. Phase 1 worth 8 billion VND is for renewing the foundation - including digging deep, treating the entire old foundation, installing an international standard drainage and irrigation system. This is also the first time since 2003 that My Dinh Stadium has had its foundation overhauled. Phase 2 with the remaining 2 billion VND will be used to lay new grass, expected to start construction in early 2026.
Not only serving football, the national stadium is also a place to organize large-scale cultural and artistic programs, requiring technical infrastructure to be flexible, durable and meet international standards. Replacing the foundation, applying fast-recovering grass and modern drainage and irrigation systems are steps that show clear efforts in improving the quality of the project after many years of deterioration.
When the projects are completed, My Dinh will not only have a more spacious appearance, but also have enough competitive capacity to continue to become a destination for international tournaments and major events, contributing to raising the image of Vietnamese sports and culture on the regional map.
