In less than a month, more than 1.17 million 12th graders nationwide will take the 2025 high school graduation exam. At this time, the review atmosphere at schools is heating up every day. Teachers and students are accelerating to consolidate knowledge, practice skills, and prepare to enter the exam with confidence and determination to achieve the highest results.

Strengthening inspection and examination of high school graduation exam in 2025
Practice knowledge and skills
These days, at Chieng Son Middle and High School (Moc Chau town, Son La province), the review atmosphere is taking place very urgently. Mr. Do Duy Chien, the school's principal, said: With 175 grade 12 students, the school is mobilizing all resources with the determination not to leave any student behind. In parallel with the in-class hours, teachers assign additional exercises and review content for students to practice self-study skills; at the same time, encourage students to study in groups, exchange knowledge that is still stuck; teachers also spend time talking, consulting, participating in sports activities with students to help them relieve pressure, maintain their spirit during the "sprint" review period. Of the 175 grade 12 students, 41 are boarding students at the school.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Lam Kinh High School (Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa ) has 336 12th graders. To prepare for the high school graduation exam, the school adjusted the timetable right after the 10th and 11th graders had summer vacation, increasing the study time for 12th graders. From now until the last week before the exam, 12th grade teachers will teach for free. Each subject is arranged with 2 direct lessons and 2 guided self-review lessons, focusing on key types of exercises and improving test-taking skills. For students with weak academic performance, teachers develop separate support plans, ensuring that they can keep up without being overloaded. In addition to studying, the school encourages students to exercise after school through sports activities such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc. to reduce pressure and create a comfortable mindset for effective review.
Not only in highland schools or plain districts, the "sprint" review work in big cities is also organized systematically and closely. In Hanoi, supporting students to review for exams through television programs is showing clear results. The Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training has built a system of lectures and exercises for each topic, closely following the exam content and suitable for students' abilities. The program selects excellent teachers in the three subjects of Literature, Math and English to participate in teaching, helping students review knowledge and practice self-study skills. The lessons are broadcast from 9:00 p.m. to 9:40 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on channel H2 (Hanoi Radio and Television); at the same time, the entire lecture is also posted on the Hanoi ON application and the station's digital platforms, helping students easily access and study anytime, anywhere.
From now until the exam, each school and each teacher needs to make the most of the remaining time to support students to meet the requirements of the exam according to the new orientation. The Hanoi education sector also strengthens coordination with families, closely monitors students' learning process, and guides them to develop effective self-study plans. The review organization is implemented in accordance with the spirit of direction and professional guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training for the high school graduation exam for the 2024-2025 school year.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said: From now until the exam, each school and each teacher needs to make the most of the remaining time to support students to meet the requirements of the exam according to the new orientation.
Create confidence for candidates
Many localities across the country also organize mock exams to evaluate and classify students, train exam-taking skills and initiative for 12th grade students. In Son La, the Department of Education and Training has implemented 5 mock exams, including 3 at the school level and 2 at the department level; in which, the second mock high school graduation exam according to the common exam questions of the department is organized in accordance with the regulations of the 2025 Exam Regulations, with serious exam, invigilation and grading. Particularly for multiple-choice subjects, three exam sites conduct centralized grading using exam grading software according to the 2018 general education program. The whole province has more than 52,000 candidates participating in the mock exams, of which more than 49,000 students follow the 2018 general education program and nearly 2,800 students follow the 2006 program.

Based on the results of the mock exams, the Department has promptly adjusted and supplemented the review plan; at the same time, it has guided schools to organize review exams that are close to the program content and required competencies. This helps 12th grade students consolidate key knowledge, practice test-taking skills, create confidence and prepare for the official exam taking place at the end of June.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the 2025 high school graduation exam will take place from June 25-28. This is the first year of applying the 2018 general education program, while there are still about 25,000 candidates taking the exam under the 2006 program. This requires the exam organization to be carefully prepared, flexible and suitable for each student group. This year's exam also takes place in the context of many changes in the administrative apparatus, this factor can have a certain impact on the exam organization, placing higher requirements on the education sector in coordinating, operating and ensuring the exam takes place safely, seriously and effectively.
Faced with these requirements, the education sector is making efforts to fully prepare students both professionally and mentally. The Ministry of Education and Training requires educational institutions to complete the 12th grade program on schedule according to the school year schedule.
During the teaching and review process, schools focus on differentiating and individualizing teaching activities, guiding students in self-study methods and knowledge search; at the same time, increasing the application of information technology in managing and evaluating review results. The review and classification of student levels are carried out regularly to arrange classes and teachers suitable for each group of subjects, ensuring effective review. Reviewing exams is only organized for students in need, avoiding spreading, formality or wasting resources. Along with that, many departments of education and training coordinate with local television stations to develop review topics broadcast on television, supporting final year students to enhance self-study and self-review at home.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that during the review process, schools need to help 12th graders get familiar with the exam format and organization method announced by the Ministry. Localities can organize mock exams for all 12th graders in a serious spirit and objective evaluation. The mock exam results will be the basis for timely classification and knowledge supplementation, and help students and teachers get familiar with the new exam organization method in 2025; from there, students will be fully prepared with knowledge, skills and confidently enter the high school graduation exam with the highest results.
