The President Ho Chi Minh relic site at the Presidential Palace is a particularly important national historical and cultural relic site. There are currently nearly 2,000 documents and artifacts here that have been painstakingly collected and preserved by staff. This is a quiet but very important work in preserving the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.
In the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, the Stilt House is one of the places most closely associated with Uncle Ho. To keep the Stilt House clean and preserve the artifacts and documents as they were when he was alive, the staff of the Relic Site regularly cleans it very early every day, before it opens to visitors.
From 6am, Ms. Le Thi Cam Tu and her colleagues from the Department of Preservation and Environment of Monuments were present to do the cleaning, arranging, and preservation work... Ms. Tu has been doing this work for decades every morning. "We usually start the work at 6am every day, each person will be assigned to work in a different area. We make sure to finish before 7:15am to welcome visitors," Ms. Cam Tu shared.
Fresh flowers were also prepared early by the sisters. "Uncle Ho especially loved flowers, especially roses and lilies. After returning to the capital from Viet Bac, he grew a lot of flowers in his residence, and there were always fresh flowers on his desk, so we still maintained the practice of changing fresh flowers every day," Ms. Tu added.
His working area in the stilt house is carefully preserved.
This Stilt House area alone preserves more than 200 artifacts associated with Uncle Ho's daily life and work during the years he lived here.
The ground floor of the stilt house is where Uncle Ho often worked in the summer, and where he and the Politburo met to discuss and decide on many important issues of the country. This is also where Uncle Ho received guests.
Ms. Mai Le Huyen is arranging Uncle Ho's dining table. "Everything is meticulously prepared by us as if we were ready to welcome him back from a business trip. In the minds of those who work in the preservation work at the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, Uncle Ho is only away on a business trip. So everything must be preserved in the best possible way, looking forward to the day he returns," Ms. Huyen emotionally shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam is one of the people with many years of experience working at the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site. She is also the one who regularly prepares fresh flowers at the special House 67. "These days in May, as well as for the past decades, I still prepare fresh flowers, especially lotus flowers, to offer Uncle Ho as well as prepare to welcome delegations of leaders to offer incense at House 67. I feel extremely honored and proud to take care of the place where Uncle Ho lived in his last days every day, especially every May, May 19 is the anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, millions of Vietnamese people return here to visit and visit the place where he lived and worked," Ms. Tam shared.
"For over 50 years, not only people like us have been preserving his artifacts every day, but certainly future generations will also continue this proud and honorable work. An early morning at his house, peaceful with the chirping of birds and the swimming of fish, makes us see the simple character of the Father of the nation, the great leader of the Vietnamese people, the national liberation hero, and the world cultural celebrity.", Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan - Deputy Head of the Department of Preservation and Environment of Monuments at the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace shared.
The three cars that once served Uncle Ho are recognized as national treasures. They are still carefully maintained by staff every day.
All work was completed by the staff before the time to welcome the people of the whole country to visit Uncle Ho's house.
At exactly 7:30 a.m., President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site welcomed Vietnamese people returning to visit Him.
