House No. 5, Chau Van Liem Street in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City is not only a historical relic but also an important and moving symbol of President Ho Chi Minh in the hearts of the Vietnamese people. Associated with his life before leaving to find a way to save the country, this house is an important address reminding everyone of his bravery and patriotism.
Recognized as a National Historical Relic in November 1988, this house is known by its full name as "Where Comrade Nguyen Tat Thanh lived before leaving to find a way to save the country". For the people of Ho Chi Minh City, the house is also affectionately called "Uncle Ho's House".
Despite many historical changes, the house is still preserved to this day, becoming a red address, symbolizing his will and aspirations, a place to preserve the beauty of ancient architecture and valuable documents.
In the bustling life of Ho Chi Minh City, the house still preserves images and documents about the time when President Ho Chi Minh lived before he left to find a way to save the country on June 5, 1911.
This small house witnessed Uncle Ho's arduous revolutionary years and is historical evidence of a harsh period of struggle.
Mr. Quang Thanh Hiep (District 5) shared: "The feeling of touching the space where Uncle Ho lived and thought makes me feel so small but also extremely proud. This is not only a destination, but also a reminder for each of us young people about our responsibility to the country, about the dedication and noble ideals that Uncle Ho left behind."
The first floor of the relic displays many important documents about President Ho Chi Minh, including a memorial altar and images and maps related to old Saigon.
District 5 People's Committee recorded that President Ho Chi Minh lived at the Lien Thanh Trading Company branch, No. 1-2-3 Quai Testard (now Chau Van Liem Street, District 5) before the canal was filled and renamed in 1915.
This place preserves many valuable documentary photos about the time Uncle Ho lived, and is both a cultural and historical work and a placeto educate the younger generation about history and revolutionary traditions.
The map of President Ho Chi Minh's 30-year journey to find a way to save the country, from 1911 to 1941, is a legacy of his perseverance and determination on the path to national liberation. The journey across 3 oceans and 4 continents took him to nearly 30 countries.
The scene at Nha Rong Wharf when Uncle Ho left is recreated, providing a vivid perspective on that historical moment.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tham, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Ward 12, District 6, shared: "I hope young people will visit to feel more deeply and realize the value of freedom and independence that our country has today."
