On the morning of May 19, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son chaired the first meeting of the Prime Minister's Working Group on the peak of the fight against, prevention and suppression of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

The Working Group was established under Decision 950/QD-TTg dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son - Head of the National Steering Committee 389. The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 is the standing agency of the Working Group.

At the meeting, representatives of leaders of ministries and branches who are members of the Working Group focused on discussing and giving comments to complete the Working Group's Action Plan, including inspections and field surveys in key and complicated areas of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Ministries and sectors also reported on their detailed action plans to carry out the peak period of fighting, preventing, repelling and strictly handling crimes of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the efforts of ministries, branches, localities and functional forces in the past time in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. However, the situation is still complicated, wide-ranging, with many subjects, affecting people's health and trust, causing confusion and anxiety in public opinion, affecting social order and security and the development of the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement is a very important and long-term task that needs to be carried out regularly, comprehensively, and continuously to combat, prevent, repel, and eventually end this situation to protect the legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses, protect security, safety, and health of the people, and contribute to the country's rapid and sustainable development.

During this peak period, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the ministries and branches that are members of the Working Group to complete and issue on May 20 a detailed action plan to implement the peak period of the fight against, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the sectors and fields under their management, ensuring focus and key points; establish working groups of their ministries and branches to monitor and urge the implementation of the above plans.

Ministries and sectors focus on reviewing the system of legal documents in their sectors and fields, promptly amending or proposing to competent authorities to amend and supplement them to prevent subjects from taking advantage of legal loopholes to produce counterfeit and poor quality goods.

Ministries, branches and localities must conduct inspections immediately when people report the trading, production and consumption of counterfeit and poor quality goods; and strictly handle violations.

Members of the Working Group must directly grasp the situation, directly inspect and urge the implementation of tasks of their ministries and branches.

Localities closely and actively coordinate with members of the Working Group during the peak period; do not let the merger of administrative units cause laxity in the fight against trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and fake goods.

Regarding propaganda work, the Deputy Prime Minister requested press agencies to focus on raising public awareness, mobilizing people's participation in the fight against trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and fake goods; and strictly manage product advertising content.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 to propose to competent authorities to add the Government Office as a member of the Working Group./.
