Martial arts star who played 'Wong Fei Hung' passes away

According to HK01, Tsui Chung-Tin passed away on November 2 due to his worsening illness. He was a famous Hong Kong martial arts star who acted with Jet Li in Wong Fei-Hung: Iron Rooster and Wu Kong (1993).

Hong Kong media revealed that Xu Zhongxin suddenly passed away at the age of 70. According to actor Tian Kaiwen, the artist surnamed Xu had been feeling unwell since the morning of November 2. After noticing that his father had been motionless for a long time and his body was not responding, his children immediately took him to the emergency room. The medical team actively fought for the veteran star's life but to no avail, and he was announced dead at around 2 p.m. Tian Kaiwen told HK01 that he was shocked when he received the news of Xu Zhongxin's death. Currently, friends and colleagues are actively supporting the family in arranging the funeral.

Recently, Tsui Chung-Tin has rarely appeared in public. Hong Kong news sites revealed that the veteran actor's health has been declining since April 2022, he had to stop filming action scenes, and no longer directs martial arts for TVB projects. The last film he participated in was Infernal War, filmed a while ago.

In his final years, the veteran star was still busy making movies, working as an action director and martial arts designer.

Born in 1952 in Hong Kong, Tsui Chung-Hsin learned martial arts from a young age and entered the entertainment industry in the 1960s. The veteran star became a stuntman for major film studios such as Golden Harvest and Shaw Brothers, and then had the opportunity to participate in many action films. In 1989, the famous actor had to retire from his stunt career after a serious accident on set while performing an action scene for Cheng Siu-Thu. He suffered a lot of pain from a torn cruciate ligament, and it took him 10 months to recover and undergo physical therapy, leaving him with a long scar on his knee. This accident caused Tsui Chung-Hsin to switch to martial arts design and direction, and to play supporting roles in action and martial arts films.

The Hong Kong martial arts star is called “big brother” by many in the profession. With a cold, tough appearance, he is often assigned villainous roles, transforming into thugs, underworld leaders or martial arts masters. During his decades in the profession, the veteran artist has witnessed the ups and downs of Hong Kong action and martial arts films. HK01 revealed that he has made more than 130 works as a stuntman, actor, martial arts designer - director, action director, etc.

In particular, he played in Wong Fei Hung: Iron Rooster and Wu Gong (1993) and had a scene competing in martial arts with Jet Li. The actor is married to a woman named Lam Khiet Van and has two children. Tu Trung Tin is happy to enjoy his old age with his children and grandchildren. Along with that, he has no intention of retiring but wants to work until no one invites him anymore.
