Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center (Thua Thien - Hue), said that the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City basically agreed on a plan to open Hai Van Quan to visitors from August 1.

Hai Van Quan relic is located on the top of Hai Van pass, right on the border between Thua Thien - Hue province and Da Nang city.

Tours will be temporarily free until the units agree on building a suitable ticket price list.

Although it has been basically restored, because the entire relic is located at an altitude of more than 500 m above sea level, it still lacks some tourism infrastructure and the technical infrastructure system is not synchronous.

Previously, on December 19, 2021, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to preserve, restore and promote the value of Hai Van Quan relic.

The total investment of the project is more than 42 billion VND from 50% of Da Nang city budget and 50% of Thua Thien - Hue province budget.

Hai Van Quan relic site is expected to open to visitors free of charge from August 1.

The project has restored the relics based on the original traces. Including restoring and replacing the Thanh stone gate foundation, the mortar system, Thanh stone gate, brick walls, etc.; restoring the Nguyen Dynasty walls with mountain stones according to archaeological traces.

Hai Van Quan relic was built in 1826, is a military fortification guarding the top of Hai Van Pass right on the border between Thua Thien - Hue province and Da Nang city. This is a work containing many cultural and historical values and is also a famous scenic spot, contributing to the tourism development of Thua Thien - Hue and Da Nang. The relic was ranked as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017.
