Without having to work hard in the sun and rain, just being skillful and diligent, on average every day, Ms. Hang Thi My, Ta Lu village, Ta Ngai Cho commune, Muong Khuong district can earn 100,000 - 200,000 VND thanks to sewing. This income is not too high, but relatively steady, the work is mainly concentrated at the end of the year, the time when people are idle. Ms. My said: "With income from sewing, in a few days I will have money to buy fertilizer to plant corn and rice. Now my family is less miserable."
Ms. My sews Mong costumes in her spare time.
Having also pursued the profession of sewing Mong costumes for many years, recently, Ms. Hang Thi Chu, Mao Choa Su village, Ta Ngai Cho commune, Muong Khuong district, bought more machinery to expand production, when her husband decided not to go to work far away but to stay home and work with his wife. On average, each month, they earn about 15 million VND from this profession.
The Mong people's costume sewing profession brings income to the people.
Mr. Giang Seo Xao, Mao Choa Su village, Ta Ngai Cho commune, Muong Khuong district shared: "There are elderly people in the family, young children are going to school, I do not feel secure working far away, so I switched to sewing Mong costumes. Life is less difficult in all aspects, I also get a daily wage, and I can take care of my children."
From a few initial households, up to now, Ta Ngai Cho commune has had over 60 households making traditional Mong costumes. The market demand is very large, helping people have regular jobs during their free time. Instead of selling small-scale costumes at markets like before, now, people in Ta Ngai Cho also receive orders from other localities such as Son La, Lai Chau ...
More livelihoods - More opportunities to escape poverty.
Mr. Giang Sin Phu, Party Secretary of Ta Ngai Cho commune, Muong Khuong district emphasized: "We continue to propagate and mobilize, propose support for people to promote some traditional occupations in the area to gradually change people's thinking, not just focusing on corn and rice".
To sustainably eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, the most basic thing is to create jobs for workers, so that they have a stable income, based on the actual conditions and available potential of the locality. This is also the solution to the problem of poverty reduction in the core poor areas such as Ta Ngai Cho. Adding more livelihoods during the off-season is more opportunity for people to improve their lives and strive to escape poverty.
