Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Huy Hoang, son of Labor Hero Le Van Kiem, a former K6 student, shared: “Before coming here, my father always told me how to inspire the students. He always kept in mind that what he has today is thanks to the care and help of everyone, so when he achieves success, he must know how to repay it.”
Mr. Hoang said that his family appreciates the school's effective operation of the "Le Van Kiem & Family" Scholarship Fund over the years. Step by step, the fund has become a support both materially and spiritually, helping students stabilize their lives, study and do scientific research with peace of mind. He hopes that in the future, today's students will continue that spirit, join hands to build more new scholarship funds, so that the school can maintain its leading position in training in irrigation, disaster prevention and water resources.
Over the past 16 years, the "Le Van Kiem & Family" Scholarship Fund has awarded scholarships to more than 560 students, including 102 excellent students and 462 poor students who have overcome difficulties. In 2025, the fund will continue to select 7 outstanding students and 32 students with difficult circumstances to award scholarships, each worth 15 million VND.
Also at the event on the morning of November 8, the school awarded 6 "Lighting up the Faith" scholarships sponsored by PVcomBank and 46 first-year scholarships to K67 freshmen with the highest admission scores in 43 training majors in 2025. The diverse scholarship sources demonstrate the connection between the school, businesses and society in accompanying students, especially in the context of many economic fluctuations.
“This is a great source of encouragement, giving students wings to realize their dreams of studying and starting a business. Many of them have now become lecturers, scientists, and engineers working in Vietnam and abroad,” shared Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs.

According to the school year summary report, the school spends more than 10 billion VND each year on scholarship and student support programs. In the 2024-2025 school year alone, more than 600 students will have their tuition fees exempted or reduced, and nearly 170 students will receive academic support and social assistance. In addition, nearly 20 academic and startup clubs are maintained, inspiring the spirit of creativity in the student community.
The students' learning and training results have also achieved many impressive results: More than 80% of students achieved good grades or higher; many students won the National Olympic and National Startup Awards SV_STARTUP 2025, in which the GreenMelon project of Thuy Loi students won the National Second Prize.
Moved by these achievements, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet, Principal of Thuyloi University, shared: “I always keep in mind that the final conference is for students, who are the center of all educational values. Therefore, the entire program today, from MC, performance to report, is performed by the students themselves. That is how we give them the opportunity to express themselves, to understand that they are the masters of the future.”
He emphasized that the most important thing that the school aims for is not only to train professional knowledge but also to foster organizational capacity, creativity and sense of responsibility in each student. Each summary conference is both an opportunity to review learning results and a moment to see the maturity and pride of generations of Irrigation.
In addition to classroom knowledge, soft skills are considered an important factor that helps students adapt quickly to the working environment and life. “What makes me most proud is that Irrigation students do not only study to get grades, but also to live, to share and to grow. Many students after graduating have become engineers, officials, teachers, carrying the Irrigation spirit further,” said Professor Viet.

This year, the school also marked the first time it held a Party admission ceremony for students at the Presidential Palace Relic Site. Before the ceremony, the students and lecturers visited President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, expressing their gratitude and affirming the ideals of life and struggle of the young generation. “I was truly moved when I felt the aspirations of the students today, and I appreciated even more when I saw the teachers silently accompanying them for many days of preparation, from setting up the stage, practicing the performance to the smallest details,” he shared.
Sending deep thanks to the team of lecturers and staff, who "not only teach but also inspire, ignite the love of learning and dedication in the hearts of students", Professor Viet considers it a sustainable foundation for the development of the school today and in the future.
From the story of students to the vision of higher education, Principal Nguyen Trung Viet affirmed that Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 71-NQ/TW are the "backbone" of education today. The education development strategy to 2030, vision 2045 is also clearly defined. By 2030, Vietnam strives to have at least 5 universities in the top 500 in the world. "Water Resources University will accompany that journey with quality, responsibility and love for the teaching profession," he affirmed.
The speech ended with the story of Nguyen Thi Phuong, a former student of Information Technology, twice recipient of the "Le Van Kiem & Family" Scholarship, who recently graduated with honors and was specially retained to work at the Information Technology Center.
For Principal Nguyen Trung Viet, it is a symbol of the determination, faith and humanistic values that the school pursues. “From examples like Phuong, we see more clearly the meaning of companionship. The school is committed to continuing to provide dedicated support, so that every student can feel that Thuy Loi is always home - the starting point of big dreams,” he said.
